# Down the Rabbit Hole

Every journey starts somewhere.

For me, it began with a conversation about blockchain, which led to a conversation about DeFi, which led me to buy a (PDF) copy of CoinGecko’s “[How to DeFi](https://landing.coingecko.com/how-to-defi/)”.

So since then, it’s been down the rabbit hole with Layer 1s/2s, Side Chains, Optimistic vs ZK-rollups, Staking, Yield Farming, Liquidity Pools, DEXs, Oracles, NFTs, GameFi, DAOs.. the list really doesn’t end.

And while there’s a ton of hype (and many scams) out there, I believe in the possibility of web3 doing something good. Whether it’s allowing **content** **creators to directly accrue value**, helping the unbanked get **access to financing**, reforming **payment systems**, or reimagining **digital identity** **and asset ownership**.

There’s a window of opportunity to create something.

Let’s not waste it.
