What's biggest annoyances with searching for casts?
---------------------------------------------------

Recently, Varun (@v) made this cast.

Here are the points I am struggling with.

> It's difficult to find past communications.
> I remember the interactions, but there's no way to go back and find them.
> It would be really helpful if we could search for messages between myself and another user.

Additionally, many ideas have been suggested in response to this question. Here are a few of them.👇

* **_Filter search to a channel_**
Having a search icon in the user profile page to pre-filter to that user and in the channel header to pre-filter to that channel would be great.

* **_Search a specific channel or users casts_**
(even better would be having option to use date filters)

* **_Very specific in the word order or it doesn't return what I want!_**
Sometimes I know who casted 2 or 3 words And it's still not enough to find.
\>> It should handle spelling errors, synonyms, and related terms to provide accurate results(Accuracy).

*   **_"_**[**_@username_**](https://warpcast.com/username) **_<search terms>"_**
in order to find old casts that I remember someone sent about a topic It's almost impossible to remember a cast and find it. You end up having to scroll through the user's profile and hope it was recent enough to find it easily

* **_Can’t find anything at all, Even my bookmarks_**
Bookmarked too many cool things. I can only scroll back so far before it doesn’t make sense to scroll.

* **_How can I search for a keyword from a cast from a specific user?_**
\>> Use from:username (e.g. "_keyword from:pohe_") will show my cast

*   **_Personalization_**
Tailoring results based on the user's interests and past behavior can improve relevance. Results should be highly relevant to the search query, prioritizing content that matches the user's intent.

* **_Search should include users bios_**
I want to be able to find people on certain teams e.g. base, rainbow, etc. and they often include those in their bios

FC update
---------

Following this comment, the FC's search function was updated a few days later!
It appears that 1) channel-specific searches and 2) search for casts by specific users have been added.

(Searching by username used to work before, but its a lot more resilient to missing .eth's in the username other minor changes that should make it easier to find the right casts.)

Farcaster

----------------------------

Some quality of life improvements for search 1. Type "in: <channel>" to find casts with hello in that channel 2. Type "from: <username> hello" to find casts with hello from that user

**1\. Type "in: /channel xxx(Phrase)" to find casts with hello in that channel**

It helps with searching within a specific channel.
I tried typing **"_in /farther hello_"** to search.

![](https://storage.googleapis.com/papyrus_images/5ede79f86bd8d40af70ea9109e8ec79f.png)

**2\. Type "from:username xxx(Phrase)" to find casts with hello from that user**

You can now look back at casts from specific users.

I tried typing **"_from:pohe guide_"** to search.
💡When searching exactly as the cast instructed, I couldn't find the relevant cast.
\-> However, once _I removed the space after "from:"_, the search worked perfectly.

However, since you need to remember the search syntax to perform the search, it would be helpful to have a dropdown list or something similar.
It turns out other users feel the same way.
I hope the search functionality improves even more.

We just shipped support for video, images and embed links for Buoy Web Search Featuring two great (underfollowed!) artists: @eclecticmethod and @0xtrxnt.eth Also, you can now create searches without a search term. This means you can easily create reverse chronological channel feeds, or user feeds, based purely on filters! Try it out at beta.buoy.club

Some users even say they don't face such issues because they use Buoy.
We should consider using it more in the future as well.

Searchcaster
------------

Search for any cast on the Farcaster protocol.

I tried typing **"_pohe_"** to search. All casts containing "pohe" will be displayed.

![](https://storage.googleapis.com/papyrus_images/805b60922283b9b7377f8227fb54c195.png)

On the initial screen, only text search is available, so you can't search for specific users. To search for users, go to "Profile" at the bottom right.

Currently, the only way to quickly access past casts is by using another application. I hope this helps reduce the time everyone spends on searching.
