Why? Gerrymandering is one reason. The other is the fact that they aren’t talking about the BBB. They aren’t passing Voter ID. They are not controlling the message. It brings up another point you will see on full display tonight. You know why libertarian Republicans can’t win in general elections? They are terrible at strategy. You know why the left can win? They are good at strategy. We are seeing it play out in real time across the US. Which movement is rising? Which movement is winning elections? The socialists in urban areas have just taken Virginia. Let’s contrast two players in the US House. Thomas Massie and AOC. Neither likes Trump. One is from a “red” district in Kentucky, and the other from a “blue” district in urban NYC. They have nothing in common when it comes to political beliefs. AOC is an out-of-the-closet socialist/communist. But AOC would never break ranks with Democrats. She’d never pick a fight to make them look bad. Massie goes out of his way to do it. He’s the drunk in the bar looking for a fight who falls before he can throw a punch. Massie is intelligent. MIT degree etc. You’ve got to respect someone like him. However, he missed the lecture on Porter’s Five Forces. Almost 100% of libertarians are the same, though plenty of them are far less intelligent. Instead of joining forces with Republicans and dominating, they cut their Achilles tendon, and both wind up out of power. Libertarians always overpromise and underdeliver, especially at the ballot box. They lose winnable races consistently as their Libertarian convictions are often in conflict with reality, and voters recognize it. Witness Trump, who has had enough of Massie’s tilting at windmills politics and endorsed Massie’s actual Republican opponent in the upcoming primary. People say, “There is a uniparty”. They are frustrated. I get it. There is. Mitch McConnell is evidence of it. But the uniparty guys/gals are aging out. The Charlie Kirk generation is coming of age. It’s going to change. Change happens slowly in politics. It took the socialist wing of the Democratic Party 30 years to take control. Republicans cannot afford to back Libertarians in the Republican Party. It is a guaranteed loss, especially when there are winnable races. They have to call them out and get them to toe the line. If the Libertarians prove to be able to build a majority inside the party, then they can control the agenda. Just like the far left is doing with the Democrats. It’s one thing to pontificate about free market economics, legal pot, and other libertarian causes. Don’t confuse them with facts. But you can’t do anything about it when you are on the far outside looking in. Lie back and enjoy socialism. I guarantee you, I believe in free market capitalism and have practiced it more than any libertarian. The problem with libertarians is that when you mention Milton Friedman, they recoil and immediately talk about Hayek. They forget that the two were amicable colleagues. They walk out their front doors looking for an argument. When they get in one, they lose. Bill Ayers, Barack Obama, and the commies recognized that a long time ago. They played the long game and moved the party far to the left. Massie is sitting with his pal Ro Khanna, author and pusher of the wealth tax in California. Ro was also buddies with the fraudster SBF. They are wearing the Epstein files on their sleeves, but didn’t Trump release them? Turns out, most of it was a nothingburger, but more Democrats and Democratic operatives were implicated than Republicans. AOC is not dumb in the way Hank (“Guam tips”) Johnson is dumb. She’s pretty smart with her wordcraft and her use of social media. Her core beliefs are dumb. But she isn’t dumb in the way she talks about them. She knows how to spin to confirmation bias. By the way, I am fighting a cold and using cold medicine. Sure, you fatigue more easily, but not so much that you’d think an island could tip. The Founders were not libertarians. They valued government. The government manages a civil society so people have liberty and freedom. Libertarianism sows chaos. In the Federalist Papers, they illustrated why. If you read classical literature on the ancient Greeks and Romans, you would know that a pure libertarian government leads to totalitarian government. It’s a “democratic republic”, not a “democracy”. There is a gigantic difference. Politics is about power, not “muh principles”. Reagan understood that, but he won and grabbed power by projecting his principles. That is a key difference. Massie doesn’t get that, and neither do the acolytes that follow him. Reagan got to reform the government. Massie gets to be a backbencher and maybe drummed out of the Republican party. The only reason the media pays attention to him is that he is bad for Republicans. ## Publication Information - [Points And Figures](https://paragraph.com/@pointsnfigures1/): Publication homepage - [All Posts](https://paragraph.com/@pointsnfigures1/): More posts from this publication - [RSS Feed](https://api.paragraph.com/blogs/rss/@pointsnfigures1): Subscribe to updates
