# I started a diary on memecoin's trading.

Initial Premise
---------------

I decided to start writing a journal about trading memecoins. I was definitely influenced by the algorithm, which often shows me people flaunting astronomical profits online (real or, more likely, fake). So, together with a couple of friends, I decided to give it a shot. I've been in the trading world for 5 years, and more importantly, I’ve spent those 5 years studying narratives, technologies, projects, and tokens every single day.

Now I feel confident enough to say: _"Alright, let’s gamble a few hundred euros and see what happens."_ I contacted two friends, showed them what “crypto betting slips” are, and we started hunting for projects on Discord, each putting in a few dozen euros for fun.

First Attempt: Total Chaos
--------------------------

As my first experiment, without any strategy yet, I literally opened pump.fun, picked 4 coins, and put $50 into each. I ignored the wallet for a week and then reopened it. The result? All four went to zero. A 100% loss.

From that moment, I decided to look for a more logical approach. After various studies and simulations, I realized one fundamental truth: traditional logic doesn’t apply to memecoins. Forget math and science; just have fun—but with some degree of strategy.

My Criteria for Picking Memecoins
---------------------------------

After a month of observation and 10-12 simulated entries, I came up with my own logic for choosing coins. Here are my criteria:

* **Ticker and image**: I avoid vulgar names or niche references. I prefer simple tickers and recognizable animal or meme images.

* **Market cap**: I pick coins with a market cap between 100k and 3M—not too high or too low.

* **Chart analysis**: I focus on accumulation areas and key levels rather than pure technical analysis.

* **Number of holders**: I go for coins with at least 7,500 holders, preferably with a growing fanbase.

* **Token distribution**: I avoid projects where a few wallets hold large amounts of tokens.

* **Volume and transactions**: The more movement, the better—but I stay cautious of bots.

First Night of Real Trading
---------------------------

One evening, a friend and I decided to dive in for real. Dinner, loud music, and… playful trading. We followed a simple criterion: enter based on gut feeling, but with small sizes.

### **Results of the evening:**

* **Trade 1:** Entered with 0.5 SOL. The coin grew, then a sudden dip. I added another 0.5 SOL and sold at +77%.

* **Trade 2:** Same technique, but the dip continued. Closed at -46%.

* **Trade 3:** Invested 0.25 SOL and exited at +46%, seconds before a total collapse.

*   **Trade 4:** Complete rug, -103%.

In the end, we closed with 6 total trades and a final balance of **2.93 SOL -> 1.97 SOL (-0.96 SOL)**. Fun, but not profitable.

What’s next?
------------

Despite the losses, this experience was helpful in refining my approach. I’m currently following a new coin that looks promising: zero dev holdings, a 10k fanbase, and a current narrative. I’ve invested 0.5 SOL, and so far, I’m secured my lost capital and fully recovered. I’ll update you in the next post!
