# My journey so far

When I started taking my first steps within the Web3 ecosystem I never imagined I would develop so much passion for the sector in such a short time.

I remember approaching it in two phases, the first, of which I obviously have a lot of regrets, around 2016, when a friend proposed that I make a joint investment and buy some bitcoins together. I refused at the time.

If I can be completely honest, I didn't refuse for the offer itself, but rather for the person who had proposed it to me: it was what I would define as "shady" and I didn't trust it regardless, without even delving into what it was about.

In the future, a few years later, without any important motivation, I started to approach the cryptocurrency market thanks to the curiosity of diversifying my traditional finance portfolio.

It turned out to be a completely unexpected discovery where I met people, technologies, dreams and investors of all kinds and from all over the world. One of the most curious characteristics has always remained constant over time: we all have "our story with Bitcoin", each of us has a vivid memory of having had the million dollar opportunity and in some way knowingly rejected it. Personally I believe that this is a strong sign of personal growth, recognizing that type of event, or opportunity, means having a greater awareness than in the past.

However, the more I delved into the DeFi world, the more the experts also warned me about market cyclicality, the bull market, the bear market and good asset management practices.

I entered with my first capital in May 2021, after a few months of studying about alt-coins and their differences with bitcoin. I gave myself a birthday present, a nice Dogecoin voucher and with them my active entry into the DeFi world.

Too bad there was a significant detail: I entered a few days (hours) before Elon Musk's famous tweet which led to a 55% collapse of the entire market in the following days. “Welcome to the bear market,” they told me.

I kept testing, I kept investing and diversifying. I tried trading, I tried the derivatives offered by various exchanges, I tried to move into DeFi, I experimented with NFTs and I experienced what it meant to manage large losses, or more precisely "drawdowns".

To this day I am still here, I have completely reduced the percentage invested but I have absolutely not lost that desire to experiment that web3 brings you. And I'm very happy about this.

We are at the end of what should be the last market decline, before an epochal recovery. Who knows what awaits us in the near future. Will we be able to take a step towards mass adoption or will it remain a "shady" sector within the reach of a few?

I can't wait to find out.
