Baroque architecture, exemplified by structures like St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City and the Palace of Versailles in France, emphasized grandeur, ornamentation, and the integration of art and architecture. These buildings were designed to awe and inspire, reflecting the power and glory of the Catholic Church and the absolute monarchies of the time.  The legacy of the Baroque period can be seen in its enduring influence on art and architecture. Its emphasis on emotion, movement, and sensory experience paved the way for subsequent artistic movements and continues to inspire artists and architects today.
