Spare a thought for Kevin McCarthy. He is a standing example of a person who went through a great deal of pain to get to the positon of a speaker, fighting through so many rounds of votes to get to being a speaker. But he lost all that within no time, with just one vote.

Sometimes, things are just not meant to last, no matter how good you are, how hard you worked and when you finally get there, it is just gone before you enjoy the view from the climb. He did the right thing by not fighting to seek reelection as speaker.
