Its development process can be roughly divided into several stages: Origin and Early Development (1970s): The origin of rap can be traced back to the Bronx in New York City in the 1970s. At that time, DJ Kool Herc switched tracks between two record players at a party and guided the atmosphere through MC (Master of Ceremonies), which is considered the starting point of modern Hip Hop culture. In 1979, Sugarhill Gang's song "Rapper's Delight" became the first commercially successful rap single, marking the beginning of the commercialization of rap music. The Golden Age (1980s): The 1980s were known as the golden age of rap, giving rise to many classic rap groups and singers such as Run-D-M.C., Public Enemy, N.W.A, Beastie Boys, and more. Rap music during this period began to focus on social issues and the living conditions of black communities, and the lyrics became more profound and politically charged. Diversification and Mainstream (1990s): In the 1990s, the styles of rap music became more diverse, with various genres such as Gangsta Rap, G-Funk, East Coast Rap, and West Coast Rap emerging. Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and others became representative figures of this period, and their works achieved great commercial success, gradually bringing rap music into the mainstream view. Globalization and Integration (2000s present): After the 2000s, rap music further globalized and its influence expanded to various parts of the world. Eminem, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and others have become internationally renowned rap stars. At the same time, the fusion of rap music with other music genres such as electronic music, pop music, rock music, etc. is more evident, creating a more diverse range of music styles. In summary, rap music has gradually evolved from an underground culture to a globally popular form of music, going through multiple stages such as origin, golden age, diversity, globalization, and integration. Its influence continues to expand and it has become an important component of modern music. ## Publication Information - [RAPSTAR](https://paragraph.com/@rapstar/): Publication homepage - [All Posts](https://paragraph.com/@rapstar/): More posts from this publication - [RSS Feed](https://api.paragraph.com/blogs/rss/@rapstar): Subscribe to updates ## Optional - [Collect as NFT](https://paragraph.com/@rapstar/rap): Support the author by collecting this post - [View Collectors](https://paragraph.com/@rapstar/rap/collectors): See who has collected this post
