Crypto for a Cause

_Ever wondered how blockchain can be used to better the world? Perhaps you love NFTs and want to give back. This is the project for you._

If you haven’t heard about it yet, the inaugural [**_NFT Brisvegas_**](https://medium.com/@NotRealAqua/nft-brisvegas-441b749a71ce) event just went down a few days ago. One of the projects that really blew me away to hear about was an app utilising the blockchain to make international charity simple and transparent to everyday users. If there’s one project I’d pick to try to sell web3 as a force for good, it’d probably have to be ‘**Charity Token**’.

Charity Token was founded by Chris Manski, a retired veteran who turned his attention to giving back. The project is built around giving a platform to the many different charities around the world, and giving everyday people a way to give directly to the charities that they feel most passionately about.

The integration of blockchain technology within the app has been coordinated quite ingeniously. While tokenomics aren’t something that I’d normally address, it is worth mentioning that the ChaT token is designed to take some of the platform fees and spread it evenly amongst all listed charities, which gives smaller organisations an opportunity to thrive. In addition to this, the use of smart contracts and the blockchain’s public ledger force the project to stay true to its promises and direct funds straight to the charities, which is a great boost of confidence to those who may be worried about their money being misdirected.

The platform also gives consideration to crypto-natives and crypto-noobs alike, building in a way that allows everyone to contribute despite what background they may have. Users will be given the option to register through more traditional, web2 means as well as the option to continue with their MetaMask wallet. Those who register directly with the app will have the option to pay by card and will be sent a tax receipt for their donation. Those who proceed with their crypto wallet will have the chance to engage directly with charitable NFT projects that take a home on the platform. Regardless of what type of user you are, you can expect the donation process to be right up your alley.

Overall, this project is a noble endeavour that really utilises the blockchain for a great cause. It’s a great sign for how the web3 space will be utilised going forward.
