Concept & Technology for Conscious Kitchen The term kitchen is probably synonymous with convenience. By virtue of large living spaces and lack of dining facilities, kitchens do tend to get used quite a lot. Due to the lack of work surfaces, it is difficult to keep the room neat. However, by using compact technology, we can make kitchen cabinetry into space-saving products. In view of the fact that the major items of food preparation are usually set up in the kitchen, the area could be made into functional zones. The different zones could be used for storage, preparation of food, preparation of beverages, hanging and lighting. Systems and accessories which work in a modern kitchen are quite versatile and could be configured in such a way that they work with a variety of different zones. All in all, the kitchen becomes a space where the functional elements are hidden but are nonetheless readily available. This kind of functional layouts opens up entire floor plans, allowing for flexible use. It is thus important to consider both the functionality and the appeal of any cabinetry products as a result of which it should be achieved. In the kitchen, there is an increased tendency to standardize the appliances. You can either get high-quality, top-of-the-line appliances or you can opt for all-in-one, high-functionality appliances. This is a practical solution as all the appliances work as a unit, making them easy to use and adding value to the overall functionality of the cabinetry. One such concept of a conscious kitchen is taken up in the abode of Tim Elliott in his “Window Within Cabinetry”. Tim draws the attention to the fact that using the right cabinetry products increases the value of the kitchen space. A streamlined approach can be adopted to keep the look and feel of the cabinetry neat and well-arranged. He uses his proprietary storage cabinet as the centerpiece of his modern kitchen. The unit is a contemporary kitchen. It is there in the center of all the activity of the kitchen. At the same time, the unit also has one of its two doors open, welcoming the light.
