# Only we can call each other that

Just an interesting observation, but I find that I will sometimes tell a funny story about my friends, to a new acquaintance, only for the new acquaintance to make fun of my friends. Exactly like I was doing. Only then I get defensive.

Why is that? Why would I tell a funny story about my friends, only to get defensive when others find it funny. Seems a little self-defeating. I’ve starting noticing it more and more.

The best solution I can think of is either don’t tell the anecdote, or not be defensive when others find it funny.
