# ScaleWatching the Week *August 2nd - 9th* By [ScaleWatching](https://paragraph.com/@scalewatching) · 2024-08-09 --- Hello dear ScaleWatchers, Let's round up and comment some of the most important news that happened this week in the L2 scene: **_\*Work in progress, experimental Edition_\*** ![](https://storage.googleapis.com/papyrus_images/b4b5b0d7c0cee347bf92ea4c05744a2e.png) * * * ### **Markets** As most of you know, Markets collapsed during Sunday and Monday with the worst dump of the last two years helped by the failure of the ["Yen Carry Trade"](https://foreignpolicy.com/2024/08/08/japan-crash-yen-carry-trade-global-markets/) and by the rising tensions in the middle East. After seeing ETH and most Crypto assets losing around 30-40% of their value in a day, the Market re-absorbed around half of its losses during the following days. Provided we don't get very bad Geopolitical-Macro news soon, this movement could have been the big retracement we needed in order to see a continuation of the bullish trend which, in chart like the following one (Crypto Total Market Cap - Weekly), is being suggested that has not been invalidated yet.
