Norderney has been an official North Sea resort since 1797, making it the oldest in Germany. At the same time, Norderney is the youngest of the East Frisian islands. This apparent contradiction is essential for the island. Old and young at the same time, as well as modern and traditional, Norderney presents itself to its guests in Europe today. Shopping in the bustling city centre is just as much a matter of course as a day in untouched nature. Attractive events are just as much a part of this as sustainable action and business. Norderney is one of only two German destinations in the top 100 green destinations worldwide. On Norderney you can discover the UNESCO World Heritage Site in a variety of ways. 85% of the island belongs to the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park area. Through the dune landscapes, the best way to explore the island is on foot or by bike. Various viewing platforms on dunes entice you with unforgettable 360° views over the island and the open sea.
