As the music industry continues to evolve, so must the artists within it. On 10 April 2025, the MTN Bushfire Arts Round Table, in collaboration with ARMC (Africa Rising Music Conference), brought together creatives from across the continent for a dynamic online workshop: "How to Monetize Your Music in 2025." The session was designed to help artists, producers, and music entrepreneurs tap into practical strategies for earning a sustainable income in today’s fast-changing digital landscape.
The workshop featured a powerhouse lineup of speakers making waves in Africa’s creative economy:
Melo HD – Creative strategist and digital music consultant, known for guiding artists through the intersection of media, tech, and culture.
Money Badoo – Innovative recording artist and multi-platform brand builder, mastering revenue generation through streaming, live shows, and curated fan experiences.
Sizo Hlophe – Cultural entrepreneur and media executive with expertise in licensing, rights management, and regional music markets.
These thought leaders shared real-world insights into topics like:
Maximizing streaming revenue across platforms
The power of owning your masters
How to use NFTs and Web3 tools to build direct-to-fan income
Licensing music for content and film
Building brand partnerships and monetizing social engagement
“The future of music monetization is borderless,” said one of the panelists. “It’s not just about putting out songs—it’s about building a full ecosystem around your art.”
Empowering Africa’s Creative Class
This workshop is just one part of MTN Bushfire’s commitment to empowering creatives in Eswatini and across the continent. Beyond the beats and stages of the annual festival, Bushfire continues to foster meaningful conversations and opportunities that fuel artistic careers and economic sustainability.
Whether you're an up-and-coming artist or a seasoned pro, this session was a timely reminder: with the right tools and insights, it's possible to build a thriving career that lasts.
