Play-to-earn is a [lazy take](https://x.com/tokenterminal/status/1811773181545357323) on crypto gaming where **incentives are rarely well-designed**. With little incentive to innovate, new releases are often **low effort copy-pastes** of popular Web2 games, **lacking a genuine player community, unique gameplay, and good lore**. On that note, THJ hallucinated a few months ago what a BeraTone and Pudgy collab could look like. This is a cool sort of “meta-layer” extension for these DeFi protocols. Traditional DEXes or money markets can separately power BeraTone’s [full-scale game economy](https://machinations.io/articles/the-machinations-manifesto-for-building-sustainable-game-economies) because items (e.g., resources and special items) are tokenized like anything else. Tokenomics and Player Economy ----------------------------- BeraTone’s player economy will use a two-token model, like “coins and gems”.
