作者是大卫德雷曼，他被认为是华尔街逆向投资的构建者，也掌管着自己的投资公司，不仅向公众提供投资服务，还管理着养老金和捐赠基金等产品。德雷曼也有菜鸟的时候，当时他也在追热点，结果亏损了75%，后来他就潜心研究市场情绪，在70年代末写了这本书，逆向投资策略，从此华尔街如获至宝。他在这本书里告诉大家，79年的美国股市正处于一波史诗级的大牛市前夜，应当非常大胆的买入。当时没人相信他，3年以后，美国股市果然开启了一波超级牛市，光指数就18年涨了10倍。后来这本书，就被封神了。
