Finding a Voice in the NFT World
I've been experimenting over the last few months on Rodeo Social and more recently on Zora—social-based NFT platforms with interactive feeds. Yet, navigating these streams often feels like drifting between alienation and fascination. The sheer amount of creativity on display is both overwhelming and captivating.
Much NFT art embraces lofi pixel aesthetics or highly digital styles, including generative art created through computer code. Honestly, a lot of it escapes my understanding. It feels filled with inside jokes, meme trains I missed, and a self-referential culture I'm just outside of.
Yet I’m hopeful. I’ve barely dipped my toes into the NFT world, and I'm certain there are creators who share my values and interests. Perhaps some of them I’ve skimmed over in the stream because their art is coded in a way that is unfamiliar to me.
My digital illustrations are simple sketches from Procreate. I have traditional visual art on paper, figurines, clay characters, nature photography, poetry, and writing. Until recently, I wasn't sure how to integrate these diverse creations or if my art had a place in the NFT world.
Playing Around: Finding My Way
Initially, my whimsical, semi-psychedelic imagery seemed promising but lacked cohesion. Only recently, through playful experimentation, have I found ways to integrate these elements.
On Zora, I discovered "stickers"—a simple tool to digitally collage images by layering elements. My first creation in this style was a playful homage to SNEGG (a random meme coin I created), marking my playful entry into tokens and NFTs. The process felt light and fun, encouraging further experimentation.
Awake into Dreamscape: My Creative Process
My latest vision blends layers: a nature photograph I took at Pearl Beach, an AI-generated character co-created with my Consciousness GPT (an esoteric self-help guide aligned with my astrology and human design), and elements from an actual collage I crafted from paper cutouts last year.
The message of this work is that the universe is guiding us through encounters in the natural world, through our screens, dreams and imaginings. There is a language and conversation with life that can be unlocked through attention and awareness, creativity and play.
This process seems to merge the presence of capturing nature, the AI co-creative process and remixing some of my creative work in a new way. While I’m still getting my head around these platforms and no one is really viewing or collecting my NFTs at this stage, the very practice of creating them feels valuable as a means of attuning to the symbols around me.
Introducing Star Baby
For those yet to meet Star Baby: imagine whimsical weirdness, cosmic creaminess (originally an autocorrect from "dreaminess"—a happy accident), playful creativity, and esoteric wisdom infused with Care Bear energy.
A project currently brewing is the Star Baby oracle deck. Someone asked recently,
"What is an oracle?" Indeed a good question, I’ll do my best to define:
An oracle is historically a person or sacred site through which divine wisdom or guidance was believed to be communicated. Oracles use symbolic language—poetry, metaphor, and archetypes—to bridge everyday consciousness with deeper insights. They serve as a reflective mirror, offering guidance and perspective rather than direct answers. In the context of a card deck, they provide a reading of a kind of an archetypal quality represented by symbols, metaphor, poetry.
My vision for this deck is to draw upon playful cosmic characters who offer gentle and playful guidance for our creative journeys. For e.g this card could communicate surrender - let go and float, enjoy the magic that is all around, stay awhile with the stars…
Alongside the oracle deck, I dream of nurturing the Star Baby Collective—a gentle community exploring Web 3.0, tokenised creativity, art sharing, and connection.
I've realised Web 3.0 isn't a singular culture but a constellation of micro-cultures and niche communities. It's a technological Cambrian explosion, swirling with possibility. From these cosmic particles, new stars, planets, and galaxies form.
I'll delve deeper into what this Star Baby Collective might look like soon. If curiosity is stirring in you, please let me know!
Over the past few weeks and months as I’ve attuned my creativity to this new Web 3.0 world the following creative mantras have come forward to guide me.
My Current Creative Mantras
You need not finish everything you start. Possibility is play.
I'm committed to experimentation but not obliged to complete every dream.
I co-create with AI and the universe simply because creativity is joy.
Not everything created needs to be shared or monetised.
Creation can be personal learning, becoming, discovery, insight, and story.
External responses do not measure my worth as a creator or human.
Trust divine timing; creations mature in their own season.
Interaction quantity doesn’t equal quality or impact.
Feeling overwhelmed signals a need for rest or shift.
Allow the body to integrate dreams and possibilities.
Sustain energy selectively; some projects need completion, others do not.
Frustration signals misalignment, inviting shifts toward alignment.
and finally some gentle salient advice from the LLMs -
Guidance from My GPT - Invitation from the Stars
"Don’t rush your emergence. Let your symbols speak first. Let your joy ripple. Build slowly, from softness. Your space is needed."
Thanks AI!
And thank you for being here and witnessing my creative process.
As always if something resonates feel free to comment or reply.
Lots of love,
