The Beijing Internet Court announced on the 15th the trial status of online music copyright cases. In the field of live broadcasts, it is more common for anchors to sing other people's songs during live broadcasts, or to use other people's songs as background music to enhance the atmosphere. In the field of short videos, music is one of the most important elements in short video production, and its usage forms are more complex and diverse. In this regard, the Beijing Internet Court made the following judicial judgments: 1. The live broadcast platform participated in the host’s live streaming reward share, and set up a column to provide live broadcast review services, and failed to fulfill its duty of care to match its business model. The consequences of the damage should be jointly and severally liable for compensation. 2. The short video platform shall bear joint and several liability for the behavior of users using unauthorized songs in the platform's music library to produce and spread short videos. 3. The short video editing platform knowingly knows that the authorization of the third-party platform is not clear, but still provides targeted search for infringing recording products, which constitutes infringement.
