Avatar 2 was a fantastic piece of liberal hollywood universal studios tour ride nonsense. It was every single left leaning American trope from the past decade fisted into 3+ hours of formulaic James Cameron CGI. In lieu of reviewing it I’d like to instead highlight my favorite virtue signals referenced in appreciation of just how well JC canvassed #America2023. The List Old Colonel-turned-Na’vi leans into American Indian racist rhetoric with impunity. No non-white “villain” humans. White-American Bigotry ✅ “I’ll get you his scalp.” Gay fish bromance. LGBTQ Demographic ✅ “I know how you feel. I feel alone too. Outcast.” One single Asian woman who was conveniently part of the whale hunting squad (along with the harpoon having the Japanese characters 日浦 on it). Anti-Asian Jab ✅ (ngl it almost made me appreciate the sport of the hunt) Nearly-nude white kid with dreads feeling misunderstood because he feels more Na’vi than human. Eminem 8-Mile Demographic ✅ "Some of my best friends are Na'vi" Cross-species pregnant mother heart-to-heart to hammer home the togetherness of women around the world universe?. Edie Falcon Cameo. Susan Sarandon Cameo. White Women Guilt Assuaged ✅ "Our existence on this Earth is a puzzle." Prayer saves the day. Soft return to mainstream appreciation for “faith” post-COVID. Girl has seizure, modern medicine failed but (non-denominational) faith is (ecumenical? universal?). God ✅ Other than that the colors were great and the action was solid enough. Rating: 4 out of 5
