Metal L2 marks a significant milestone for both Metallicus and the Optimism Collective. Metal L2 stands out with its unique features, including direct connections to banks and payment partners and comprehensive on-chain identity solutions. These features are essential for scaling operations in Web3 environments while maintaining strict compliance standards. By incorporating L3s, which can utilize the OP Stack, the network can support more diverse blockchain solutions. These L3 chains benefit from being part of a collaborative ecosystem and contribute a portion of their revenue back to the Optimism Collective. Furthermore, Optimism is introducing custom gas tokens and other features like Plasma Mode, which provides various data availability options to lower operational costs for L3s compared to traditional Layer 2 setups.
