Never really done this sort of thing before but where to begin? I won’t name names or anything, this isn’t meant to be inflammatory. As I have experienced firsthand, at the time of writing this (4/11/22), there are already cultural issues beginning to form even within the best of web3 spaces. I want to be the bridge for the absolute novice, or at least offer insight as to how these spaces feel from an outsider’s perspective. My web3 credentials :started by buying bitcoin on coinbase and sending to bitforex to buy $omi at 0.01 (with the help of an online acquaintance)basically just started following everyone I possibly could on twitterthe only positive play I’ve ever made was buying $peopledid all this by myself mostly, with a few random people answering questionstried to hop onto some shitcoins for the airdropsbought a .ens after the snapshotI am an idiot. If you got this far in my post, congratulations! You realize how little value I have to offer to most of the people in the web3 space. However, I reject the idea that I cannot contribute to the conversation. I stay optimistic despite my dumb mistakes because I am so smitten by the overwhelming sense of wonder and optimism that comes from some of the most brilliant minds on the blockchain. People are still barely scratching the surface of what can be done with almost every idea that we’re seeing pop up. Sifting through the shitposting and high school drama that is the crypto twitter timeline, even in this bear cycle, there is still hope pouring out. I want to say that this translates to IRL experiences but I really cannot. There is very much a “who do you know”/”what do you do” aspect to this whole decentralized organization thing that still feels as stuffy and “vibe check-y” as the hottest and worst parts of the LA social scene. As an anon this is to be expected but if the point of a decentralized organization is to be able to interface with people on a level of mutual understanding, there is such a long road ahead to arrive to that point. I am not saying I have the answers but I am so curious to see how we can shape this new form of gathering around our hopes and dreams and shared optimism. Until we arrive at augmented reality glasses that display everyone’s twitter handle above their heads, I will continue to show up. I want people to feel welcome even in spaces completely foreign to them. I want to be the bridge. ## Publication Information - [snugmode](https://paragraph.com/@szetho/): Publication homepage - [All Posts](https://paragraph.com/@szetho/): More posts from this publication - [RSS Feed](https://api.paragraph.com/blogs/rss/@szetho): Subscribe to updates - [Twitter](https://twitter.com/snugmode): Follow on Twitter
