Your Builder Score is changing.
If you're wondering where your score went or what happened to some of your data points, keep reading.
Spoiler: score becomes the builder rank and credentials will become badges
For a lot of people, the Builder Score was just an arbitrary number. You'd see "247" and have no idea if that was good, bad, or average. Without context, a score is meaningless.
What actually matters is where you stand relative to other builders. That's why we made a fundamental shift: Builder Rank is now the primary metric you see. The score itself is internal.

Instead of "your builder score is 347," you will see "you're ranked #863 out of 2.1M builders." That's something you can actually interpret.
We're rebuilding the way we track builder reputation:
We now track 20 meaningful data points instead of the 60 from last year
Total Builder Earnings* is now the main driver your reputation, contributing up to 50% of your score
The remaining data points focus on hackathons, events, and achievements that have some form of manual curation and are hard to game

We want the Builder Rank on talent.app to reflect real impact, not just activity. And earnings are the clearest signal that someone is building things people value.
* Total Builder Earnings represent the sum of all rewards and earnings that originate from building software onchain
We're also doing significant housekeeping:
Deleting 70+ outdated data points (keeping 155 total)
Trimming the profiles we actively track from 20M to ~5M potential builder accounts
These changes mean faster updates and significantly lower infrastructure costs
The profile page is getting a refresh to match this new approach, and the first updates are already live:
We just replaced the "Scores" tab with a "Data" tab, which includes 6 core metrics and the full breakdown of data points affecting your rank
The data point breakdown will not show points anymore. You see your rank, not the underlying score
All tables across the talent.app are sorted by the Builder Rank by default

You can expect more updates to the profile page soon.
Go to your dashboard. You'll see a new checklist with action items: things you can do to improve your rank and increase your chances to earn rewards.

This list is personalized based on what's missing from your profile and what would actually move the needle.
As I mentioned earlier, we're removing 40 data points from the scoring algorithm. But they're not gone, they're becoming Badges.
Badges are collectible achievements you can display on your profile to signal credibility, share socially, and eventually mint onchain. They won't affect your rank, but they're status symbols and filters for talent discovery.
More details coming soon.
This update is part of a broader shift: we're building reputation infrastructure that measures real impact, not vanity metrics.

We're recalculating millions of Builder Ranks this weekend.
Go to talent.app and check where you stand.

A Manifesto for Onchain Builders
On May 1st, 2024, let us mark the birth of a new tradition โ the Builders Day. As the world commemorates Labor Day, a moment to be loud about the achievements of workers, let us also cheer for the onchain builders and their quiet contributions to a better tomorrow. On this day, letโs celebrate all builders pursuing a new internet, against the crowd and against the odds, working relentlessly over the years to pave the way for a more equitable future. From Scores to Ranks: How We're Rethinking Builder Reputation
Did you have a look to the @brnd Score System? ๐
no ๐ฅฒ where can i read more about it?
Iโll share the draft with you ๐ on a DM, first we are finishing the formula
I don't know what this is, but I love supporting you, so I liked and recasted for all to see ๐
haha thank you
How do you plan to deal with commit abuse in public repositories?
commits donโt count much to the rank, we track mainly impact metrics. we use them to track mostly consistency of shipping over time and we do our best to exclude bottled/automated/fake commits
Thanks. There is one more thing. One of my contracts just have Match (not Exact Match) on Sourcify and that's the reason it's not included to 'deployed verified contracts on Base'. Can it be resolved? The point is this contract was deployed using Remix. While the source code is correct and the runtime bytecode matches exactly (confirmed by an Exact Match on BaseScan), Remix does not preserve the full compiler metadata (such as the original metadata.json, exact file paths, and all compiler flags). Sourcify performs a strict byte-for-byte verification, including the creation bytecode and metadata hash. Because the original metadata cannot be reproduced exactly after a Remix deployment, Sourcify verifies the contract as a Partial Match. The contract logic is fully verified and transparent; the difference is metadata-only, not code or behavior.
Hi, Macedo will you follow me ๐ณ Or Buy my post ๐
I read it. But what about the events ongoing? We are getting trouble and troubles. I was on top ranks on stacks then sudden my commits was not counting then next day rank was down then again showing the commits but rank still down ? Why is that ?
sorry to hear that did you already open ticket on our discord? if not, please do it and we'll take a look but if your activity data is showing correctly but the rank decreased, then it just means other users just got ahead
I got an issue with stacks Sometimes commits will count sometimes zero. Sometimes it shows back only less commits
