During a harsh winter, a hyena struggled to find food. Hungry and desperate, he considered stealing from other animals.
He spotted an owl perched on a branch and asked, “How do you survive difficult seasons?”
The owl replied, “I prepare before the season changes.”
The hyena laughed bitterly. “That advice is too late for me.”
The owl nodded. “Then survive this season however you can — but remember it when times improve.”
The hyena barely made it through winter. When spring arrived, he stored food carefully.
The next winter, he did not starve.
