[KarimaDigital](https://x.com/KarimaDigital) wrote a really deep dive on how Umoji tackled community growth without using the tried and over-relied method of airdrops. The focus was quests, but not just your typical follow, retweet and like for points quests. Quests matched the culture and Story of Umoji. And yes, you could win money. This is what Karima says on this topic:

ahhhhhhh so much. Internally we chatted if and how to sequence the announcements or just do a big dump. We decided to single out the big thing and batch the other releases: Telegram integration, Hivemind questions not private anymore, Discourse analytics, Discourse community moderation, releasing knowledge hub, reputation nft. I think that was it.

At the end of November we had a massive [space on events, IRL and URL, in web3](https://x.com/together_crew/status/1864995777812062255), with participants from our [web3 events contest](https://www.jokerace.io/contest/base/0x3917a1052ebab6502272e40f6df7e285d5654d17). A lot of wisdom was shared. To not keep you waiting too long, here’s the tldr:

*   events should be fun.
    
*   events should be easy to attend.
    
*   events should benefit the local community.
    
*   events should build relationships.
    
*   events should grow people.
    
*   events aren’t one-off time blocks, but a series of mini-events wrapped into a bigger event. Keep an eye on those mini-events and redirect the vibe if it feels off.
