# Ethereum Merge

The merge is scheduled to occur between the 15th and 16th of September and is defined as Ethereum’s transition from a Proof of Work(PoW) model to a Proof of Stake(PoS) model.

It will have five major effects: ETH deflation, reduced energy consumption, increased security, increased staking rewards and reduced ETH outflows.
