My running is evolving. Since summer, I've made a jump in my level. I'm now doing 10K disstances and am thinking of signing up for a half marathon next year. Still, I'm not running to be in races, I'm running to be less heavy and generally fitter. And although I'm clearly improving, and thus getting less heavy and generally fitter, some runs are still a struggle. What helps me very much is that I have now plotted a route that has very little repetition and ends close to my starting point. Also, along the way, and even at the end, I have options to add on distance when I feel like it. Before, I was doing laps of approximately 1.5 km, and they became mind numbing. It decimated my motivation, making it hard to get past four laps of this. The longer route, which is basically one giant lap, helps me to stay motivated by the constant change of scenery alone. As I run along the river, in a relatively green area, I enjoy beautiful views. These help as well. Especially when the run is getting hard, and I'm struggling. The distraction of the beautiful autumn colours on the trees absolutely helps me. What tips do you have to get past that point where you struggle? Doesn't have to be while running.
