# Winterscape > We're enjoying a touch of snow in issue #278 of your weekly poetry shot **Published by:** [trpplffct](https://paragraph.com/@trpplffct/) **Published on:** 2026-01-09 **Categories:** poetry, winter, art, snow **URL:** https://paragraph.com/@trpplffct/winterscape ## Content Suddenly we live in a postcard reminiscent of the images Anton Pieck drew of winter fun."That's a typical Anton Pieck picture", or "een typisch Anton Pieck plaatje" in Dutch. Snow does that to the Dutch mind. It makes the world look beautiful, and people play in the snow and skate on the ice. Anton Pieck drew that. Or how it must have looked in the old days. His drawings are etched in the collective memory of the Dutch. So, whenever snow covers the land, the ponds, canals and ditches freeze over, we recognise our familiar surroundings as an Anton Pieck plaatje. Then, we go out and have fun in that postcard-picture. This week, we had some snow. Not as much as the Dutch got, but still enough for us to play in. We even stood on the frozen over park pond. We were not alone. The park was full of people playing, building snowmen, making snow angels, throwing snowballs. Fresh snow brings out our playful side. We can use that in times like these.Do you like this newsletter?
