This Beautiful Game, in the end, is decided by who scores most. If it's them, you need to score more next time.We dreamt of bigger things, but the semi-final of the European football championship was as high as our team could go. The others scored more. That leaves us with the happy memories of the dream, and the lessons learnt that will help us do better next time. Sure, we can complain about the referee, about not having enough luck, but in the end, that doesn't matter. In football, all you need to win is to score more than your opponent. Also, supporting a team is not about winning. It's about belonging. About being part of a community. About finding value in that. Not in winning a game. Belonging to the Orange Army brings me joy. I like it, but it's also only one of the communities I'm part of. I also belong to communities where some of my best friends also belong to a community that's sometimes my opponent. That doesn't stand between us. Maybe it even makes our ties stronger. PS: the image in the header was created with the Photosynthesis project by ChrisCoCreated.
