# Belt measure

My belt is my only measure of success: my main goal is to buckle it tighter by one hole at a time.All roads lead to Rome, they say. Although I might need to increase the distance of my runs to actually get to Rome. So, I look at the stats of my runs to keep track of my improvements. Sometimes, I may be looking at them a bit too much. Focusing on the details of distance per run and average speed and improving these metrics. But, that is not why I run. I am not training fro some competition, I might want to be able to run a half-marathon event one day, on my own pace, but that's not the reason why I run. I want to be fitter. And I need to shed some of that extra-me that has accumulated around my bones in the past few years. So, the distance run or the average speed are nice to know, and may be nice motivators to keep burning calories, but the true measure is the hole I use on my belt. That's what I care most about. That is my Rome. Burning calories is also not the only road that will take me there. Another road is taking in less calories. The beautiful thing here is though, that traveling both roads on the same time, will get me even quicker to my Rome. When you are on your way to your Rome, enjoy the journey, but be sure to find that optimal combination of roads to get there. The poem above is a tritriplicata, a form I created a few years ago.
