October is often covered in pink — a month of ribbons, solidarity walks, and hopeful messages for breast cancer awareness. But at Tutti Cancer Warriors, we know awareness is more than a color. It’s knowledge, compassion, and action. This month, we also bring light to liver cancer, one of the most overlooked yet rapidly rising cancers worldwide.Breast Cancer: Beyond Awareness, Toward UnderstandingBreast cancer is the most common cancer in women, affecting 1 in 8 in their lifetime. Thanks to better screening and treatments, survival rates can reach 80–90% in high-income countries. But in many parts of the world, access to mammograms, diagnosis, and quality care is still limited — leaving too many warriors behind.Early detection saves lives, but awareness must include education: how to recognize symptoms, how to self-check, and when to ask for help. Awareness also means compassion — understanding that breast cancer is not just a medical condition but an emotional journey of fear, strength, and hope.One of our own warriors, Susan, has lived that truth. An artist long before her diagnosis, she turned her experience with breast cancer into something deeply meaningful — using art to bring healing to others. Through our Grant a Dream program, we helped Susan continue her journey of creating and leading art workshops for other warriors in recovery. Today, in remission, she paints not only with color but with purpose — reminding everyone that creativity can be a path to healing. We all love you! 27 11:45 • 6 Jun 2025 Liver Cancer: The Silent FighterLiver cancer is the third leading cause of cancer death globally, with around 900,000 new cases every year. Unlike breast cancer, there is no routine screening test — which means many warriors are diagnosed too late for curative treatment.Most cases are linked to preventable causes, such as hepatitis B and C, alcohol misuse, fatty liver disease (MASLD), obesity, and metabolic issues. The good news? Hepatitis B vaccination, hepatitis C treatment, and early liver health monitoring can prevent thousands of cases each year.But silence and stigma remain powerful barriers. In some communities, liver disease is still associated with shame — linked to alcohol or infection — and that keeps people from seeking help. Awareness breaks that silence. Compassion replaces judgment.Turning Awareness Into ActionAwareness should never end with information alone.
