Not your average unboxing
What costs less than a dinner out? The essential daily tools a warrior with metastatic cancer spent two years living without.

When you are navigating a serious illness, everyone asks about your health. Very few people ask how you are managing to vacuum your living room, how you manage cooking, or how you even get out of bed.
For Daniela, an economist who lives alone with her dog, those everyday questions were becoming mountains. As her breast cancer advanced to her spine and pelvis, it severely restricted her mobility. Suddenly, ordinary routines of independent living demanded an extraordinary toll.
She just needed the practical, everyday essentials to adapt to her body's new limits and make functioning in her own home physically possible.
She knew a lightweight cordless vacuum would let her tidy up without a struggle. She knew an air fryer meant she could cook a hot meal without the pain of standing at the stove. She knew a bed rail meant she could start her day safely.
But Daniela’s list wasn’t only about survival. Tucked next to the appliances were requests for history books. Because Daniela is defined by her love for reading, gardening, animals, and the sea, not by a diagnosis.
So, thanks to our beautiful community, we got her exactly what she needed: the vacuum, the air fryer, the bed support, and the books she had chosen. And she sent us this picture:

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Tutti Cancer Warriors. With gratitude, Daniela.”
When most people open a delivery box, it just holds a purchase. But depending on whose hands open it, completely ordinary objects transform into something else entirely.
A vacuum cleaner is just a household chore, until it becomes the only way a person can maintain their space without agonizing effort.
An air fryer is just a kitchen gadget, until it is the difference between eating a warm meal or going without, because standing at a stove hurts too much.
A bed rail is just a piece of metal, until it provides the basic, fundamental dignity of getting up safely in the morning.
And a book? A history book doesn't cure a medical problem. But in a daily routine dictated by physical limits, it guarantees a beautiful afternoon.
There was one thing Daniela misses deeply that we couldn’t pack into a box: a few days by the sea. Right now, traveling is simply too hard on her body.

Before you go, a few things have changed at TCW that are worth knowing.
If you or someone you know is living with cancer and has a wish we may be able to support, Dream Support applications can now be completed directly through our website. No need to email us first or wonder where to begin. The application, documents and next steps all start in one place.

We’ve also built a new Peer Support matching system. Someone living with cancer can create a private profile, and survivors who want to support another person can do the same. From there, we look for a meaningful match based on their cancer experience and what they would actually like support with. The idea is simple: make it easier to find someone who doesn’t just care, but understands.

And finally, a little update on the three warriors we’re currently fundraising for.
So far, we’ve raised €194.52 toward their wishes. We’re not at the finish line yet, but the number keeps moving, and every donation or share gets us closer.
If you’d like to help us get there, the fundraiser is still open.

With gratitude,
TCW Team
