# Unlock Protocol Adds Support for $DEGEN 🎩

Unlock Protocol has added support for $DEGEN for creators, event organizers, and others building on Unlock Protocol. Projects launching subscriptions, memberships, events, and other initiatives using Unlock Protocol can now accept purchases and payments using $DEGEN. If you are setting up a paid subscription, membership or event and want to price it in $DEGEN, you can now do so. As we are seeing community-driven tokens gain broader acceptance and utility, we are seeing increased growth, liquidity, and contributions to a more inclusive (and interesting) digital economy. Tokens like $DEGEN are reshaping the interaction between communities and economies, accelerating a decentralized and participatory onchain environment. (Here are some great thoughts on this from Jarrod Dicker, TPan and, of course, the /degen channel on Warpcast.)How to price things in $DEGENIf a creator or event organizer wants to price their offering natively in $DEGEN, you now have the ability to set up $DEGEN as the method of payment. When setting up a smart contract with Unlock Protocol, deploy that smart contract on Base and use the $DEGEN ERC-20 as your pricing using the $DEGEN token (0x4ed4e862860bed51a9570b96d89af5e1b0efefed). It will now show its price in $DEGEN. Here’s what it looks like in practice. It takes about a minute to set up. Once the smart contract has been updated, we can take a look at how it’s presented for subscribers or attendees who are making a purchase.
