**_William Boeing and Boeing: how it all started_**
The history of the company is not like the annals of other glorious startups: William Boeing (1881-1956) was not a poor man, he did not have to invent a bicycle and spend a lot of time trying to prove that airplanes are needed by humanity. On the contrary, the businessman was the owner of a very decent inheritance, and the aircraft he invented turned out to be so necessary to the world that profits flowed like a river from the first day! However, about everything in order.

**Wilhelm Beingh** (William's father), an emigrant from Germany, successfully developed his own Business - the development of forest lands and iron ore deposits. A large profit allowed the man to expand his interests into banking and Insurance, to buy a luxury house in Detroit. But the entrepreneur died of a severe form of influenza in 1890 - everything acquired goes to his widow, only son and two daughters.

William was educated at the best educational institutions in the States, entered the Yale Science School. But I never finished it - I couldn't wait to start my own business. For the English-speaking circle, the young man changes his surname from Being to Boeing. He starts, like his father, with the supply of lumber. Then, having earned a fortune, he opens subsidiaries. The largest of them is Greenwood Timber Company, a shipyard for the construction of premium yachts. But how did a successful businessman fall in love with airplanes?

It all happened in 1909, at the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Region exhibition, where he took off from the ground for the first time in his life in a manned airplane. William would avoid aviation for several more years, until in 1915 he bought a Martin TA seaplane and enrolled in flight school. And then Boeing is disappointed - his expensive purchase is simply outdated! A businessman hires a team of specialists to bring Martin TA to mind. But it didn't help much - the aircraft eventually crashed into Lake Washington.

But William does not intend to give up just like that: he gets in touch with a good friend, George Westevelt, a lieutenant, an engineer of the Navy. Together they begin the development of an experimental Boeing Model 1 seaplane. The prototype was ready by June 1916 - in the same month the Invention successfully took to the air. Inspired by Boeing, in July 1916 he opened his own airline - The Pacific Aero Products Company. They started with the development of experimental models, and in 1917 they switched to full - fledged activity - this is how the Boeing Airplane Company appeared.
