Hey y’all! It’s JC
Let’s be real, there are days where this space feels brutal.
The market’s red, timelines are dead, and you start wondering if the whole thing’s just noise. I’ve had moments where I’ve questioned it all. Bear markets will do that to you. They test your conviction, your patience, and your reason for being here in the first place.
But even when it sucks, especially when it sucks I still believe in crypto. And not because I think I’ll catch the next 100x. I believe in what it stands for. What it could become.
Let me explain.
It’s Bigger Than Price Action
I’ve been in crypto since 2018. I’ve seen the hype cycles come and go NFT booms, DeFi summers, memecoin madness. I’ve also seen five-figure drawdowns in my wallet, watched tokens I believed in vanish overnight, and felt the full weight of a market that doesn’t care about your feelings.
But through it all, one thing’s kept me grounded and thats the bigger picture.
Crypto, at its core, is about freedom, freedom to earn, hold, spend, share, and give your money no matter who you are or where you come from. That’s what decentralisation really means to me. It’s not just some tech buzzword. It’s access. It’s ownership. It’s not having to ask permission to participate.
That hits deep for me.
Why It Still Matters
Most people don’t care about decentralisation… until they need it. Until they’re frozen out of a payment platform. Until their bank flags them for sending money overseas. Until their money loses value overnight because of decisions made in rooms they’ll never enter.
I’ve never needed crypto to survive, but plenty of people around the world do. And even if I’m not facing that pressure, I believe in building for the people who are.
That’s why I still show up. That’s why I write. That’s why I’m pushing to work in this space full-time, not because it’s easy, but because I know it matters.
Bear Markets Reveal the Truth
Bear markets suck, full stop.
No sugarcoating it. They drain your energy, they slow everything down, and they expose the stuff that was never meant to last. But there’s something kind of honest about that. Because when the noise fades, the people who actually care stick around.
That’s the space I want to be in.
I’m freelancing right now, trying to break into a full-time Account Executive, Business Development or Product role. It’s not easy. The doors don’t swing open just because you’re passionate. But this space has a way of rewarding persistence and I believe in staying for the long haul.
I’ve made real connections here. Built friendships with people from all over the world who share the same vision. Not just for money, but for ownership, access, and real change. That doesn’t go away just because ETH drops 40%.
Crypto’s Still a Skillset
I said this the other day, and I’ll say it again, crypto’s not a shortcut, it’s a skillset. The people building, learning, shipping, and teaching through the bear? They’re the ones who shape the bull.
And I want to be one of them.
Not by trying to time the market, or chasing every pump, but by being consistent. Staying curious. Showing up when it’s quiet. That’s where the real edge is.
Why I’m Still Here
So yeah... there are days where I’m over it. Where the wallet balance stings and the timelines are full of silence. But I still believe.
I believe in peer-to-peer value exchange. In open networks. In giving people a way to participate without needing permission. I believe in artists minting their own work. In developers getting paid without middlemen. In friends around the world tipping each other in tokens because they can.
It’s messy, chaotic, often painful. But it’s worth it.
Wrap-Up
Crypto isn’t perfect. But nothing meaningful ever is at the start.
The market will go up and down, like it always does. But my belief in the core of this space? That’s not seasonal. It’s long-term.
Maybe you’re feeling burnt out, frustrated, or just unsure why you’re still here. I get it. I’ve been there. But if you zoom out a little, breathe, and remember what got you into this in the first place, I think you’ll see it too.
This space matters. And we’re still early.
Drop a line if you’re still here, still building, still learning. I’d love to hear what keeps you going.
