# What is Sei for? Is it really necessary?

Hello to all of you, and again to all of you! So what is the Sei Network? And will Level 1 blockchain become popular?

DeFi is a subject that the crypto space has become familiar with relatively recently. The first DEX were profiteering for scammers and people who accidentally discovered the bug. Even sold some, but not for long - the developers were still patching up the holes. And if a person was an extremely good programmer - you could pull out a couple of million.

**_Maybe that's the right thing to do. Otherwise they launder money, they buy drugs with tokens, which are exchanged for DEX. Hehe...._**

DeFi is now a secure blockchain application. Ethereum, Polygon, Tron, Arbitrum, Avalanche, BSC and the list of such blockchains could go on. But the most popular is still Ethereum. It doesn't have speed or low commissions... It's just popular because it's the first. Like Bitcoin, which is a basic asset in the crypto space, and no one can replace it.

But what does Sei, which is designed on Cosmos, offer?

**_Really, what? I'm going to trade on CEX, not my keys - not my crypto - whatever!_**

Maybe better conditions for exchanges? Or fast transactions? Or infrastructure for DEX?

**_Ahh, all your DEX is a scam!_**

More like infrastructure - DEX loses everywhere to CEX in infrastructure. The main resource is time. For orders to be executed on Ethereum DEX, you need to confirm at least two transactions, which in general can take a minute or more. And in the case of Ethereum, amounts less than $100 are sometimes unprofitable to exchange because of gas fees.

Sei, on the other hand, offers an infrastructure that will be no worse than CEX. First of all, it's fast order execution. And there will always be liquidity - thanks to partnerships, Sei will have liquidity in common, from all DEX, which cooperate with liquidity providers-partners. The speed of order execution and sufficient liquidity is there.

What about safety?

**_They didn't steal any Bitcoins, and that's good!_**

In terms of security, Sei will also be as good as CEX. This is facilitated by best-of-breed partners who are security-oriented. And it is also the validators selected by time and practice that have proven themselves to be the best.

What else can I say?

**_Have you finished? Well done! A little more!_**

A lot of projects are being built on Sei now, although only devnet and testnet are still available. But this does not prevent NFT collections on Sei, which are already building global events to include users in WL. There are already stages of minting launches that have been successful.

And it won't end there, I hope. Sei has the potential to grow globally, globally in DeFi and Web3.0. There's not much left to achieve, but there's still a lot of work to be done!
