On 05/09/2022 I woke up today like any other day; checked EPNS first thing, moved on to CoinGecko and DeFiLlama for price and market-wide updates, but found myself quickly reeling back to EPNS (Ethereum Push Notification Service) due to a particularly odd article.

I felt compelled to construct a quick note on a decentralized service like Mirror to express my own personal views on the negative influence of centralized power structures and what can be done about it. So…just a quick post here on the importance of what crypto is enabling for the world in terms of censorship resistance and individual sovereignty and freedom.

Bankless had been banned from YouTube. I was just thinking about this exact scenario happening, literally yesterday, but concluded the Bankless team had reached a point of enough clout and awareness that this simply would be so unlikely as to consider it as a never going to happen type event.

The entire promise - to me - of crypto and DeFi, is decentralization and the freedom it enables. We, as a collective, have never in history had the power to successfully remove a centralized authority. Not just from social media, but from banking and across the entire spectrum of all needs in a society. But for many, the question may arise; “well this does all sound great in theory, but then who will make the critical decisions?”.

This question is one that I know what the answer should not be: YouTube.

Decentralize everything and prosper.

To Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cosmos, and builders across the world helping shape the world of Web3, I applaud you.

Decentralization is the path forward, DeFi is the way!
