**Oliver Taylor Hawkins** (February 17, 1972 – March 25, 2022) was an American musician, best known as the drummer of the rock band [Foo Fighters](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foo_Fighters), with whom he recorded eight studio albums between 1999 and 2021.[\[1\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taylor_Hawkins#cite_note-1) Before joining the band in 1997, he was a touring drummer for [Sass Jordan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sass_Jordan) and for [Alanis Morissette](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alanis_Morissette), as well as the drummer of the [progressive](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_music) [experimental](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Experimental_music) band [Sylvia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anyone_\(band\)).[\[2\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taylor_Hawkins#cite_note-2)

In 2004, Hawkins formed his own side project, [Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taylor_Hawkins_and_the_Coattail_Riders), in which he played drums and sang, releasing three studio albums between 2006 and 2019.[\[3\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taylor_Hawkins#cite_note-3) He formed the [supergroup](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supergroup_\(music\)) NHC with [Jane's Addiction](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane%27s_Addiction) members [Dave Navarro](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Navarro) and [Chris Chaney](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Chaney) in 2020, where he also took on lead vocal and drumming duties.[\[4\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taylor_Hawkins#cite_note-RollingStoneNHC-4)

Hawkins was inducted into the [Rock and Roll Hall of Fame](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_and_Roll_Hall_of_Fame) in 2021 as a member of Foo Fighters.[\[5\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taylor_Hawkins#cite_note-5) He was voted "Best Rock Drummer" in 2005 by the British drumming magazine [_Rhythm_](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhythm_\(music_magazine\)).
