[Optimism and long-term beliefs] During the Vietnam War, many American soldiers were taken prisoner. Some survived the war, others didn't. "Building to Last" author Jim Collins interviewed one of the surviving soldiers: "How did you get through it?" The soldier said, "I never doubted I could come out. I had that belief." Can't survive? The soldier replied: "The optimists."
