# Artemisa Province

**Artemisa Province** is one of the two new provinces created from the former [La Habana Province](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Habana_Province), whose creation was approved by the [Cuban National Assembly](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuban_National_Assembly) on August 1, 2010, the other being [Mayabeque Province](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayabeque_Province).[\[3\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artemisa_Province#cite_note-3)[\[4\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artemisa_Province#cite_note-4)[\[5\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artemisa_Province#cite_note-5) The new provinces came into existence on January 1, 2011.
