2021 can be considered as a base year for web3 innovation . Innovation has happened from Defi, Nft , cryptos , x2e and so on and so forth. It’s not possible to cover the entire year but I will try to cover some key areas : Crypto : Bitcoin crossed $1 trillion mark. Ether crossed $500 billion mark. Total crypto market cap crossed $3 trillion mark. NFT projects : BAYC turned out to be one of the best NFT projects . Nouns Nft concept of one nft per day for 10,000 days. Loot : One the most mysterious projects. NFT artists : Tyler Hobbs : Known for fidenzas Murtapak : Known for merge and many others. XCOPY : Known for flashy images. DAOs : ConstitutionDAO : To buy the physical copy of the US constitution. Krause House : Mission to buy an NBA team. KlimaDAO : Misssion to fight climate change. Companies : Facebook —> Meta . Square —> Block . Nike Acquires RTFKT, A Virtual Sneaker Company Pepsi introduces Pepsi Mic Drop genesis NFT collection to celebrate birth year. Hacked / Fraud : Squid token fraud. Crypto trading platform Bitmart experience a serious security breach. More than $600 million was stolen in what is likely to be one of the biggest cryptocurrency thefts ever. Life Changing moments : Doge coin millionaire . Sold an NFT for $1.4 million. This 24 year old sold his fund and became crypto millionaire. Countries : El Salvador accepted bitcoin as legal tender. Axie Infinity saved the people of Indonesia to earn a living. Many countries are planning to launch CBDC. Creator economy : Audius is helping musicians to reap the benefits of their work. One can earn by learning on Rabbithole . One can do bounties and earn on Layer3 . Other notable events : Beeple sold an NFT for $69 million. $ens airdrop Vignesh Sundaresan, aka MetaKovan . 2021 is just the beginning 2021 was a year full of activities.
