# Zero-Cost Airdrop: Silencio Update

Silencio is a zero-cost airdrop project I recommended back in April this year.

Now, the first batch of airdrops is about to be distributed. If you participated, you can check the latest app to see how much SLC tokens you received. I’m expecting to get around 112,116 SLC. However, its value in dollars is still unknown, and the price is likely to be low.

If you missed the previous airdrop opportunity, it's not too late to get involved. The current distribution is only 5% of the total. Even if you're hearing about Silencio for the first time, don’t worry. Just follow the steps outlined in this article, and you can easily join in. For those new to Silencio, let me give you a quick introduction before we dive into the latest updates.

1\. A Blockchain Project with a Public Welfare Vision
=====================================================

Thanks to Silencio, reducing the noise of cities is no longer a dream.

Silencio Network aims to solve global noise pollution through blockchain technology, using a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN)—similar to a decentralized noise monitoring system.

Noise pollution not only harms public health, but the global economic loss it causes could be anywhere between hundreds of billions to a trillion dollars annually. Silencio’s goal is to use community power to push governments and institutions into action, improving living conditions. Blockchain provides the foundation for trading this data while giving participants the right to “share the rewards.”

The Silencio app allows every user to become a noise data collector, contributing to a global noise map. This data can help people find quieter spaces and inspire communities to take action. When the data is sold, the proceeds are distributed among users based on their contributions. Blockchain ensures transparency and security, motivating more people to participate.

In the future, Silencio envisions sharing global noise data using the peaq network technology, working together to create a quieter environment for all.

Below is a guide for beginners; if you’re already familiar with the app, feel free to skip to part 3 for important updates.

2\. How to Get Started
======================

2.1 Step One: Download the App

2.2 Step Two: Register
----------------------

Open the app, and you’ll see the following screen.

Check the box next to "I confirm" and click one of the two buttons above. If you don’t have a Gmail account, choose "Continue with Email." However, I strongly recommend using Gmail, the best free email service on the planet. Here’s the [Google Mail registration link](https://mail.google.com/).

Enter your email in the new window and click "Continue."

Then, check your email for a verification code, enter it in the app, and click "Continue."

Next, set a password. It should be at least 8 characters long, containing both numbers and letters. Click "Continue."

On the new page, enter my invite code `yzdxs8` to receive 200 Coins. Coins are Silencio’s internal points, which will be used for future SLC token distribution.

If you see the page below, it means you’ve successfully claimed the 200 Coins. Click "Continue" to proceed.

Now, set your username and click "Continue."

This screen tells you that more than 330,000 people are using Silencio to monitor noise, just like you. Click "Continue" to proceed.

On the new page, click "Start now" to begin.

If you see the page below, congratulations! You’ve completed registration. The number 200 at the top represents your current points, and 0 represents your consecutive days of using Silencio. This consecutive day count is important, and we’ll discuss it in detail later.

3\. How to Earn More Silencio Coins
===================================

3.1 Basic Operations
--------------------

Click the "+" at the arrow in the image above to enter the next screen.

Click the "Active" button in the image above, which will lead you to the following page.

The two items inside the box and the one in the circle represent the three ways to earn points. The one in the circle allows you to earn points by watching ads, which you can try in your spare time. The main focus here is on the two items in the box. In my region, the second option, "Venus Check-in," is not available yet, so I use the first option, "Active Measurement." Click the arrow in the image above to proceed to the following page.

If your network and GPS are working fine, you’ll see the page below.

This is what the noise measurement looks like in progress. If you want to exit, hold the button at the arrow. After exiting, you’ll see the following page.

The box shows the points you just earned from measuring the noise. Click "Continue" to proceed.

Here, the system shows the bonus points it awarded you. In this case, it's 2.5% of the 2.07 points, approximately 0.05 Coins. Note that the more often you participate, the higher the bonus percentage, up to 250%. Click "Continue" to proceed to the next screen.

This screen shows a summary and breakdown of your points. Click "Claim rewards" at the arrow to claim them, and you’ll be taken to a leaderboard.

Notice the changes in the numbers at the arrow: 202 represents your current score, and 1 is the number of consecutive days you’ve been active. That’s the basic operation. Next, let’s talk about some advanced techniques to earn even more points.

3.2 Advanced Techniques
-----------------------

### **3.2.1 Measure in Uncharted Areas**

As shown above, measuring noise in areas without color blocks (circled in red) will earn you higher scores, since these areas are still blank and the system gives more weight to them.

### **3.2.2 Keep Measuring Consecutively**

As mentioned earlier, participating in daily measurements will reward you with bonus points. If you forget one day, don’t worry—you can catch up within 48 hours, and your bonus will continue to increase, up to 250%. However, if you miss the 48-hour window, your bonus will reset to 0.

### **3.2.3 Invite Friends to Join**

Here, you can earn 20% of your friend’s points as a reward. Both of you will also receive 200 Coins when your friend signs up. Click the arrow to proceed.

Click the arrow again to pull up a half-screen option at the bottom.

This tells you that you can invite friends via text or image. Let’s choose the image option. The system will generate a picture like the one below.

Send this picture to your friends. The key is that they must enter your username when they sign up, so both of you can receive 200 Coins.

Conclusion

It says that if your country doesn’t allow you to receive the airdrop, even if you participate in measurements, you might not get the tokens. If Silencio acts maliciously, they could use this clause to deny you the SLC tokens. So, if you don’t want to waste your time, you might consider waiting until the first airdrop is complete before committing.

Why am I still recommending this project, despite this concern? Well, historically, many projects have had similar warnings. For instance, EigenLayer, a major staking project, also had strict airdrop rules, but in the end, users were still able to claim their rewards.

I don’t believe Silencio would dare to disappoint its users by withholding tokens from those who contributed.
