Back in the early days of the internet, the priority was to provide reliable communication. Without communication there is no real network. Once communication was reliably solved, you got your email, chat etc. After communication was done the next thing that became important was sharing knowledge. Once humans can send each other messages it turns out they want to share richer content and know how about the world. Instead of pushing content via email if you could put it permanently in a virtual space(website) and anyone could come visit it at their own convenience and learn from it, wouldn’t that be great!

Eventually there was so much content search became an important feature(google!) for the internet. Internet was building its knowledge layer, allowing humans to share anything and everything. There were blogs, forums, hand made websites and what not. Eventually social media abstracted the blogs further to provide a single blog, theme, dns all preconfigured for everyone. To just do one thing - create content. At the end of the day internet geared up to maximise content creation, building all sorts of tools to make it easy to create and share content.

Content creation will remain a foundational layer on the internet, the part above communication where knowledge and entertainment is shared.

**Knowledge Networks!**
