Amid survival mode, work, and constant distractions, making time to check in with yourself can reconnect you with your needs, ambitions, and sense of who you are.

The Person We Keep Forgetting

One of the hardest things I’ve realized is how difficult it has been to say hi to me.

If you don’t understand what I mean, let me explain.

Saying hi to me means having a conversation with myself. Checking up on me. Asking myself how I’m doing and actually taking the time to listen to the answer.

We’re always setting notifications for apps, keeping up with updates, and checking on our friends and loved ones.

But when was the last time you checked up on YOU?

I’ve been so caught up in the noise of life , survival, making money, traveling, pursuing a higher degree, and trying to figure things out, that I forgot to pause and listen to myself.

Sometimes, you don’t need much to experience that big breakthrough. Sometimes, what you need is to sit with yourself long enough to hear what you’ve been trying to tell yourself all along.

But we hardly listen.

Think about it. Most of us can barely stay away from our phones. We’re always building, working, watching videos, scrolling through social media, or looking for the next thing to do.

The only time we’re truly unavailable is when we’re asleep.

And honestly, that’s sad.

I realized I could barely spend time with myself without feeling the need to do something. Even when I was alone, I wanted to be occupied.

But somewhere within me, there was a version of myself that had so much to say.

Sometimes, I felt it through my body sickness, fatigue, joint pains, and exhaustion.

It was as though my body was saying:

“Listen to me, man. Take a break. Sit down. Hear me out.”

And for once, I decided to listen.

Learning to Listen to Me

So, what does it mean to listen to me?

For me, it means finally spending time with myself away from all the noise.

It means personal meditation, introspection, and having the courage to face my truths.

It means asking myself difficult questions, acknowledging how I feel, understanding what I want, and being honest about where I am in life.

It means making room to hear my desires, revisit my vision, and reconnect with my ambitions.

Every day, I want to say hi to me.

Not because I have everything figured out, but because I owe myself that much.

I believe we get so caught up in survival mode that we gradually lose our spark and creativity.

We become so focused on making ends meet, chasing opportunities, and trying to become somebody that we forget the person we were before the world became so loud.

We lose sight of our initial drive and ambitions, not necessarily because we’ve stopped caring about them, but because we’ve stopped making time to listen to ourselves.

And sometimes, the answers we desperately seek outside are waiting for us in the quiet moments we keep avoiding.

Staying Connected to Who I Am

Saying hi to me reminds me why I am here on earth.

I Went Back to Me.

It reminds me of what I want to do, the paths I want to walk, and the kind of person I want to become.

It brings me back to my roots.

And even if I’m not where I want to be yet, I know the noise of life won’t make me completely forget who I am.

Why?

Because I’m still making time to reconnect with myself.

I’m still checking in.

I’m still listening.

I’m still saying hi to me.

I’m learning that I don’t have to lose myself while trying to find my place in the world.

I don’t have to abandon my dreams just because survival has become a priority. And I don’t have to wait until I’ve achieved something significant before I give myself permission to pause and breathe.

I am my source.

Everything I need to become the fullest version of myself begins with understanding, nurturing, and being honest with the person I already am.

I cannot afford to become so distracted by the world outside that I lose connection with the world within.

So, my friend, in the middle of all the noise, the pressure, the dreams, and the endless pursuit of becoming more…

Right now, close your eyes, take one deep breath, and ask yourself: “How am I, truly?” 👋🏽

Years of people-pleasing and suppressing his passions left him feeling like a stranger to himself. After his sister urged him to find his truth, he began choosing himself without guilt.

I have been living life, but have I really been living?

Ever since I can remember, I have spent so much of my life worrying about things. Worrying about school, my grades, whether I was good enough, whether I was smart enough. I have lived my life trying to be the good person, the nice one. Trying to look good, act right, say less, and always obey without voicing my disapproval.

I have been living my life to the point where I feel like a stranger to myself.

I can barely remember the things I used to love. The colours that made me happy. The hobbies I abandoned because they did not meet society’s standards. The career paths I gave up on because they were not considered professional enough by university standards.

I remember how much I loved drawing as a child. How I always loved talking and talking, expressing myself without a second thought. But being shunned and silenced all the time made me withdraw into my shell. Slowly, I became an adult who speaks only when spoken to, an adult who no longer knows how to speak freely and openly.

I remember how I cried whenever I felt hurt as a child. But as I grew older, my mind became conditioned to believe that men are not supposed to cry. Men are not supposed to be sad. We have to stay strong, keep going, and always appear happy.

And so, I became a packaged adult, or should I say, a humanoid robot? Someone who knows how to mask his emotions, hide his pain, and wear a smile no matter what life throws at him.

I remember when I loved genuinely, when I loved with all my heart. But hurt, betrayal, and excessive consumption of social media slowly turned that love into fear and doubt. They made me question the sincerity of romance and begin to see love as a lie.

You are not supposed to say that. You are not supposed to dress like that. You should not look someone in the eyes when they speak to you.

All the rules and regulations. All the dos and don’ts. All the courses considered worthwhile and those dismissed as useless. The cultures and traditions, the politics and religion.

Somewhere along the way, all these things began to distort the picture of myself I had in my head.

Slowly, I started forgetting who I was.

I silenced my desires to fulfil the expectations of family and friends. I gave up on my ideas and abandoned the version of myself I had always wanted to become.

I got lost. I forgot me.

Instead, I started creating a version of myself that people would like. A version that obeyed all the rules and regulations. A version that acted nice, forgave those who hurt him, and kept smiling even when he was falling apart.

I became a version of myself that was constantly in survival mode, blinded by scarcity, difficulties, and the endless struggle to get the things I wanted out of life.

I was told I couldn’t eat my cake and have it too. I was told I couldn’t always have what I wanted.

I remember asking for a flashy toy when I was little, only to be ridiculed for being greedy and lacking contentment simply because I wanted something I desired.

Somewhere along the way, I learnt to settle.

I became complacent. I settled for whatever I got, even when it was less than I deserved. I accepted the bare minimum. I struggled to be bold enough to ask for a salary raise or a promotion. I found it difficult to voice my desires because I was afraid of being rejected, misunderstood, or labelled ungrateful.

I forgot me.

I read books and attended seminars, trying to improve myself, learn new things, and unlearn the patterns and habits that had contributed to my losing myself.

But somehow, I seemed to lose myself even more.

I learnt new concepts and discovered new terms to describe certain behaviours and experiences. I found explanations for things I had struggled with for years, but sometimes, those explanations only gave names to my struggles without helping me understand who I truly was.

I kept learning, but I only became more confused.

Until one day, the message finally reached me.

Not from a distant place. Not from a motivational speaker or a self-help book.

It came from my sister.

We were chatting one day when she said something that would stay with me for a long time.

She said, “Unique, you are a people-pleaser. That’s one thing I’ve noticed about you. You are my brother, and you are amazing, but you would be even better if you stayed true to yourself. Find your truth and own it.”

Those words struck a chord in my heart.

I became silent that night, lost in thought.

I began to reflect on my life. I had read books to become a better man, a better leader, and a better developer. I had spent so much time trying to improve myself in different areas of life.

But I had never truly learnt how to be a better ME.

I had not learnt how to listen to my desires, honour my passions, and pursue the things that genuinely made me happy.

I had not learnt that I could stand my ground and say NO to people without constantly worrying about whether they would be offended, angry, or disappointed in me.

I had spent so much time worrying about other people that I carried burdens nobody had asked me to carry. I always wanted to be the mature one, the understanding one, the person who seemed to have everything figured out.

I became so consumed by other people’s emotions that I allowed myself to drown in them.

I could hardly say NO to anyone. I feared that people would hate me for it or stop liking me afterwards.

And that became another turning point in my life.

I had to learn that saying NO does not make me a bad person.

I had to understand that I could love people without always pleasing them. I could care about their feelings without making myself responsible for them. I could disappoint someone without being a disappointment.

I had the right to say yes, and I had the right to say no.

And I did not have to feel guilty about either.

So, I started choosing ME.

Not just through words, affirmations, or motivational quotes, but through the little things I did every day.

If I wanted coffee, I would go and get it.

If I saw someone dressed beautifully and felt like complimenting them, I would.

If something made me happy, I allowed myself to enjoy it. If something hurt me, I allowed myself to acknowledge it. If I disagreed with something, I learnt to express my opinion instead of suppressing it just to keep everyone comfortable.

I started listening to myself.

I started honouring my feelings and emotions.

I stopped trying so hard to be the person everyone expected me to be and started embracing the person I genuinely was.

I began to understand that being authentic did not mean being perfect. It meant being honest with myself. It meant allowing myself to grow without losing my identity in the process.

It meant giving myself permission to be human.

To feel. To speak. To create. To make mistakes. To change my mind. To pursue the things I love, even when they do not fit into society’s definition of success.

To exist without constantly seeking permission.

So yes, I went back to ME.

I fell in love with myself again.

I started doing the things I love. Speaking. Writing. Creating. Using my skills and knowledge to make an impact on lives around the world.

And for the first time in a long time, I began to feel fulfilled.

I feel blessed. I feel free. I feel great.

Not because everything in my life is perfect, but because I am no longer abandoning myself in an attempt to make everyone else comfortable.

I am learning to live life on my own terms. To embrace my individuality. To pursue my passions. To speak my truth. To choose myself without feeling guilty for doing so.

And honestly, choosing ME and learning to stay true to myself have been among the greatest decisions I have ever made.

Looking back, I realise that somewhere along the way, I became so focused on becoming a better person that I forgot to ask myself a very important question:

Am I becoming the person I truly want to be, or am I simply becoming the person everyone else wants me to be?

That question changed the way I see myself.

Because the truth is, you can spend your entire life trying to meet expectations, following rules, pleasing people, and becoming everything the world tells you to be, only to wake up one day and realise that you have lost the one person you were supposed to be living for.

YOURSELF.

And I don’t want that for me anymore.

I don’t want to spend the rest of my life being a stranger to myself. I don’t want to keep suppressing my dreams, hiding my emotions, or shrinking my personality just to fit into spaces that were never designed for me.

I want to live. Truly live.

And that begins with choosing myself, every single day.

So, my friend, let me ask you something.

When was the last time you did something simply because YOU wanted to?

When was the last time you said NO without feeling guilty? When was the last time you pursued something you loved without worrying about what people would say? When was the last time you looked at yourself and recognised the person staring back at you?

Do you still remember the things that make you happy? The dreams you had before the world told you to be realistic? The person you wanted to become before you started living according to everyone else’s expectations?

Or have you, too, become a stranger to yourself?

Perhaps it is time to return.

Not to the person you were before life happened, but to the person you have always been beneath all the conditioning, expectations, fear, and need for approval.

The person you silenced.

The person you abandoned.

The person you forgot.

Perhaps it is time to go back to YOU.

And this time, don’t leave yourself behind.

So, my friend, are you going to choose YOU?

"Every industry eventually develops an economy around its greatest asset. In Web3, that asset isn't always code or capital. More often than not, it's belief."

Blockchain was born out of distrust.

Distrust in governments that could inflate currencies without accountability. Distrust in financial institutions that controlled access to wealth. Distrust in corporations that owned our data, our identities, and increasingly, our digital lives.

The promise of blockchain was beautifully simple: remove unnecessary middlemen, redistribute power, and create systems where communities—not institutions—owned the future.

For many, that promise remains alive.

Across the world, thousands of developers continue to build open-source software, founders dedicate years to solving difficult problems, and communities voluntarily contribute their time because they genuinely believe they are helping create something bigger than themselves.

But every successful movement creates its own economy.

As Web3 matured, another economy quietly emerged alongside the technology. One built not on smart contracts or cryptography, but on attention, influence, optimism, and human emotion.

An economy where communities themselves became assets.

Where participation became a metric.

Where narratives became products.

Where hope became something that could be harvested.

I call this Narrative Farming.

Narrative Farming is the practice of extracting value from a community's hope, participation, attention, or belief while creating disproportionately greater value for the project, founder, influencer, or ecosystem than for the people who made that growth possible.

Unlike scams, Narrative Farming is rarely illegal.

Unlike rug pulls, it rarely happens overnight.

Many projects that fall into this pattern begin with genuine intentions. Some eventually build meaningful products. Others simply become trapped inside an incentive system that rewards visibility more than value, announcements more than execution, and engagement more than outcomes.

This article is not an accusation against any individual or project.

It is an examination of incentives.

Because incentives shape behavior far more consistently than intentions ever do.

<h1 community for believing in the vision.

But somewhere along the journey, an uncomfortable question begins to emerge.

If a project's community disappeared tomorrow, what would the project actually lose?

Would it lose people whose lives were genuinely improved by the product?

Or would it lose engagement, impressions, content creators, moderators, ambassadors, and unpaid marketers?

There is an important difference between building for a community and building on top of one.

A project built for its community measures success by the lives it improves, the problems it solves, and the opportunities it creates.

A project built on its community often measures success through social metrics—followers, impressions, wallet addresses, Discord members, transactions, or engagement rates.

These numbers can look impressive on dashboards and investor decks.

But dashboards do not necessarily reflect impact.

Communities should never exist merely to increase the valuation of a project.

They should be the reason the project exists in the first place.

<h1 id="h-grant-farming" class="text-4xl font-header !mt-8 !mb-4 community engagement, roadmap execution, and user adoption over multiple years. Every submission will be independently verified using public records, archived announcements, onchain data where available, and project documentation before being included.

The goal isn't to expose people.

The goal is to understand the incentives shaping our industry and to ask whether the communities that built Web3 are truly sharing in the value they helped create.

Everything you consume shapes your thinking.

Never stop learning. Read books, ask questions, and stay curious. Growth begins when learning never ends.

Watch your self-talk. Speak to yourself with belief, not doubt. The conversation in your mind becomes your reality.

See possibilities, not limitations. Every opportunity starts with someone believing it can be done.

Focus on solutions. Don't spend all your energy talking about problems. Train your mind to find answers.

Surround yourself with growth-minded people. The people around you influence how you think and what you believe is possible.

Take action. A powerful mindset without action is just a good idea. Growth comes from doing.

At the end of the day, a mega mind isn't about knowing everything. It's about thinking differently, believing bigger, and becoming better every single day.

Because the quality of your life is determined by the quality of your thinking.

Am I really laughing cause I am happy or I want to use that as a way to forget my pains, my woes and my bad days.

It's kind of hard to accept that true happiness comes from within when our lives forces us to interact with our environment (whether onchain or offchain) which to some extent influences us.

No wonder a psychologist said "if someone laughs more frequently than normal, it shows there are hiding lots of pain'. So, that's why I'm writing this for myself and if you can get a message from this then I'll be happy to know my gibberish resonates with someone.

It's okay not to be okay. It's okay to feel down, left out or neglected. It's okay to feel bad, disappointed or ignored. My feelings are valid. It's okay to feel the way I do but I tell myself it's not okay to wallow in these feelings.

I am in charge of my feelings. They don't control me but i control them. So when i breakdown. It's cause i want to let it all out. To relieve myself from certain emotional burdens. But I won't stay down. Still have to get up and face the world cause I am an overcomer.

So, it's okay when things don't go the way I want it to. I just have to restrategize and use a different approach.

It's okay when people don't like me or what I do. Cause everyone is entitled to their own opinions. So their opinions don't invalidate me or myself.
