Let’s look into the extremely niche and fascinating corner of the internet that birthed $TOKE. Cryptocurrency provides the perfect intersection of unregulated financial instruments and meme culture, a match made in Heaven. These unsuspecting parents birthed $TOKE, an internet oddity.

$TOKE is DePIN’s first meme coin, with deep liquidity and real integrations . DePIN stands for Decentralized Physical Infrastructure. Don’t know what DePIN is and want a deep dive? Click here. $TOKE was put into motion by **Mycelium Networks **as a joke. Mycelium is an enterprise-grade DePIN deployer. Based out of Northwest Arkansas, Mycelium has created the world’s first physical DePIN testing ground, the Mycelium Testbed.

**Mycelium Networks **launched an NFT project titled “Taste Of Mycelium” this project was mostly friends and family of the team. The collection, also referred to as the “Beta Testers”, served to provide holders with early access to upcoming projects and other unofficial perks. Little did holders know, they would serve as the breaching point into the $TOKE rabbit hole. On June 22nd 2023, 100% of $TOKE’s total supply was airdropped to Taste of Mycelium Holders.

Community

$TOKE has garnished a cult like following, followers initially branded themselves as the McToken Community. McToker’s, as they called themselves, created liquidity pools (LPs), Socials and a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization). All seemed perfect, until the community realized that the idiot developers locked 7% of the supply in “The Vault” at inception. So what we thought was a full 100% supply airdrop was actually only 93%. The only way to unlock this treasure trove of $TOKE would be a vote. You can view “The Vault” here.

The Great McVote

The “Great McVote” happens once a year on April 20th. This annual event draws the attention of all holders. In an attempt to undo the mistakes of the developers, all holders of $TOKE cast their vote. 1 $TOKE = 1 vote during the Great McVote. In order to unlock the 7% of $TOKE supply locked away in “The Vault”, 60% of $McTokers must vote yes. Sadly, during the inaugural Great McVote, “The Vault” wasn’t unlocked.

Even though we failed to unlock “The Vault”, the Great McVote of 2024 was still an amazing time. TOKE’s Discord featured a TOKE Faucet, dispersing 420 $TOKE to all who took a hit! The Discord also hosted a 1,000,000 $TOKE Raffle, valued at $1,000+!

Another fun festivity was the Wheel of TOKE, (W.O.T.). This interactive game allowed holders to play bets of $TOKE to either 2x, 1.5x, 1.2x, lose, or hit the jackpot! Soon, the W.O.T. will be implemented as a permanent game allowing holders and users of $TOKE to play year round! As someone who got to experience playing the W.O.T. alongside community members, I can attest and say it was a blast!

All participants from the Great McVote of 2024 were airdropped an official NFT to commemorate their participation in the inaugural Great McVote. The Next Chapter

The Great McVote of 2024 was a massive success, however the festivities were mostly spearheaded by a select few individuals. These individuals being @christiangoff, @og_rish, @spiltdior, @rob1453, and @meta.light. These soldiers put the $TOKE community on their back to help make the Great McVote a reality. Going forward TOKE set out to become the most liquid DePIN token on SOL. To do this, the team created LP after LP pair, this in turn increased $TOKE’s trading volume up to a daily volume of $160k! As of May 29th 2024. $TOKE had $259K TVL with 23+ active LPs. As of writing, $TOKE currently has 27 active LPs.

The TOKE Community knew that as the project grew, there would be a need for solid and well defined leadership. The pioneers that spearheaded the Great McVote of 2024 shouldn’t have to carry the weight of the entire community. So the community nominated fellow $TOKE holders for seats upon the official TOKE UP DAO Counsel. This group of elite $TOKE holders would be the leaders of the community and draft proposals for the TOKE UP DAO going forward. Can these counsel members build a community strong enough to unlock “The Vault”?

One June 18th 2024, the 1st Counsel of the TOKE UP DAO was announced and included: @christiangoff, @og_rish, @keith_rettig, @earthdarkplanet, @rob1453. As the TOKE UP DAO structure solidifies, there will be more leadership positions available soon. That being said, it’s never too late to shape TOKE’S future!
