It’s also the first quest on Nomis Gravity. We’re excited to see BlastUp and Blast Domains participating! A black hole is engulfing solar systems and approaching theirs. Your mission: travel between planets and systems to resist the black hole’s gravity and its dark influence on Normies.

Your allies aim to onboard you to the Blast ecosystem and bring you closer to the rewards. You will meet The Blast Domains Cadet Registry — an institution within the Blast Solar System, serving as the official body for licensing and regulating the activities of Nomissian cadets. The Registry plays a pivotal role in maintaining order and fostering excellence among the galaxy’s brightest minds.

There is also BlastUp Launchpad Company with significant influence in the Blast system, as it was one of the first companies to settle in the system. Since then, it has been helping other corporations grow and capture markets. Their professional campaign team has helped many projects achieve staggering results in a short period of time.

MesonFi is a fast, safe, and costless omnichain bridging protocol for mainstream token assets. It has joined the quest specifically for you, enabling you to refuel Blast for gas and swap tokens for quests without leaving the quest page.

Rules and Conditions

Your mission is to join forces with local corporations (Blast ecosystem projects) to prevent the catastrophe by completing onchain and offchain tasks. The main task is to mint your Blast Reputation Score powered by Nomis.

🪂 Each task completion earns you points. At the end of the campaign, you will receive an airdrop: we’ve prepared a big treasury of different rewards from each participant. The treasury box is unlimited — the more participants, the more rewards will be in the pool. Some projects bring their special rewards: access, roles, NFTs, points, and more.

❗️ Important tips:

Your Blast Score determines the amount of rewards you will receive from the treasury at the end. They serve as a digital representation of a user's active participation and loyalty within blockchain ecosystems.

Nomis SBT collect users’ data within 50+ blockchains. The team utilizes an analytical hierarchy process & pairwise comparison method and AI-driven mathematical models that evaluate wallets based on over 30 parameters and assign a Reputation Score from 0 to 100. All of this — based on users’ previous onchain activity.

To become a Nomis Score holder and own an SBT, simply obtaining the Score is not enough. It is necessary to mint it. SBTs are NFTs, and the key distinction is that an SBT will always belong to one person.

When you mint your Nomis Score, it means that the NFT associated with your onchain activity is held in your wallet. However, it is important to remember that every onchain action you take will change your Score on that specific blockchain. Consequently, you must update your Score and mint it again. To build, we need money. To make money, we need ideas on how to do it with minimal expenses. To be honest, it’s the main question for both projects and users — we’ve partially described this in one of our articles.

Problem

In the realm of marketing strategies, it is quite common to see projects’ marketing teams opt for incentivized campaigns with airdrops in the end in order to attract new users and generate significant traction.

However, while such tactics can indeed draw in masses of individuals, they may not always yield high-quality engagement or long-term user retention.

These initiatives often focus on quantity over quality by enticing people with free tokens or rewards without necessarily fostering genuine interest or commitment to the project’s underlying value proposition.

❓ How to attract and retain high-LTV and sticky users to the product and community in a ROI-efficient manner and capture users’ attention in the long term to prevent losing them after the campaign ends?

That’s exactly what Nomis questioned. So, we decided to test an idea of personalized offers with rewards for users. The key obstacle was finding a method to incentivize onchain power users, who are critical to the ecosystem’s vibrancy and growth, to engage with OmniBTC’s platform.

Nomis and OmniBTC made an offer on ScoreFront for LayerZero Score holders, enabling users to leverage their Scores and enhance OmniBTC’s user engagement through swaps. This innovative approach was grounded in the understanding that Loyalty Points play a pivotal role in the DeFi space, particularly as they relate to token airdrop allocations.

By enhancing the value obtained from daily swaps, OmniBTC directly appealed to the desires of active Nomis users, encouraging them to interact with OmniBTC.

The significance of the Points System in this context cannot be overstated. In the DeFi ecosystem, loyalty programs such as this are not just a bonus but a fundamental component of user engagement and retention strategies. They serve as a tangible representation of value for users, incentivizing continued platform usage.

Results

By periodically boosting the Points System, OmniBTC and Nomis could sustain user interest and participation, thereby fostering a loyal and active community.

🔑 With 0 marketing costs, OmniBTC experienced an influx of up to $0.5M in extra trading volume. Furthermore, users claimed 20,000 extra Loyalty Points, a testament to the campaign’s effectiveness in engaging the targeted user cohort.

The partnership between Nomis and OmniBTC was greatly enhanced by integrating Nomis’ ScoreFront platform, which uses onchain data to assess user reputations and unlock exclusive offers. This integration allowed OmniBTC to more effectively target and reward active and reputable users.

ScoreFront utilizes onchain data to help businesses like OmniBTC identify and reward highly active and reputable users. This targeting capability ensures that promotions and loyalty boosts are directed towards users who are not only active but also have a proven track record of engaging positively within the web3 ecosystem.

This strategic focus helps in maximizing the impact of promotional efforts and ensures a higher return on investment.

By leveraging the intrinsic value of Loyalty Points and offering enhanced rewards, OmniBTC effectively attracted a large number of loyal users, contributing to the platform’s growth and the broader adoption of web3 technologies.

The integration exemplifies a successful data-driven strategy for enhancing user acquisition and retention in the web3 ecosystem.

The Nomis and OmniBTC partnership exemplifies a successful approach to overcoming the challenges of user acquisition and retention. This includes a decentralized Perpetual Exchange, Gaming Hub, and much more.

In September 2023, the Manta Network unveiled MantaFest, a five-week-long celebration marking the Alpha launch of the Manta Pacific Mainnet, orchestrated by Galxe. The event featured a plethora of DeFi activities involving numerous DeFi protocols, including QuickSwap and its trio of onchain tasks.

These tasks presented participants with the chance to earn up to 160 Galxe Points. By taking part, users had the opportunity to mint exclusive NFTs and accumulate points, showcasing their early involvement within the Manta Pacific ecosystem.

Upon the campaign's conclusion, QuickSwap was tasked with distributing 50K $MANTA to those who partook in the QuickSwap’s challenges.

Problem

The campaign was going to have a large number of participants — up to 10K in all 3 quests. With limited resources and a lack of advanced data analytics capabilities within the QuickSwap marketing team, a question emerged:

❔ How to make the campaign’s reward distribution as fair and transparent as possible, but not rewarding bot farms and sybil attackers?

The QuickSwap team devised several tasks to monitor users’ onchain activity. To qualify for Galxe points and the $MANTA airdrop, users had to complete at least one of the following tasks:

Execute 5 swaps

Complete 1 swap

Provide $100 in liquidity for over 7 days

Notably absent were tasks involving social media verifications, a common tactic employed by marketing teams to boost campaign engagement. However, such approaches often fall short of expectations.

Sybil attackers typically lead the charge by creating multiple accounts and wallet addresses to maximize their gains from campaigns and quests. Furthermore, social media verification is just a form of doxxing, a practice that Nomis doesn’t endorse as it goes against the spirit of web3.

Solution

At Nomis, we're confident that onchain data alone is sufficient to distinguish real contributors from bot farms.

💡 Nomis leveraged its data analytics expertise and wallet scoring system to refine the participant list for the MantaFest Campaign. This was achieved by offering insights into the historical onchain activities of wallet addresses. In addition to providing crucial data points, we conducted a Sybil detection analysis and generated a comprehensive report.

Nomis’ Scoring Model uses a logarithmic function for reward distribution, which benefits every participant and offers even more rewards for on-chain power users.

This approach provided QuickSwap with two levels of Sybil resistance:

We assess wallet onchain activity across Polygon, Ethereum, and BSC to assign a Multichain Score ranging from 0-100. A score of 30 is the minimum threshold for campaign participation, indicating a relatively low likelihood of the wallet being part of a Sybil cluster.

Users looking to join the campaign must mint an SBT on our platform. We impose a nominal minting fee to deter Sybil farms from attempting to validate their onchain reputation and authenticity through Nomis.

In a typical scenario, at the conclusion of a campaign, project teams often need to sift through a vast list of participants in an Excel spreadsheet to identify bots and fake accounts, relying heavily on manual analytics. Nomis solves this issue by providing comprehensive user reports using the Scoring Model at the end of each campaign.

Results

🏆 QuickSwap managed to distribute rewards in a manner that was fair, transparent, ROI-efficient, and based on onchain reputation.

Community members who engaged in any of the three QuickSwap onchain tasks during Galxe's MantaFest campaign were allocated a portion of the airdrop according to the following reward tiers:

Tier 1: 7,500 MANTA allocated to users who completed the "Provide $100 liquidity over 7 days" task.

Tier 2: 35,000 MANTA allocated to users who executed the "Make 5 swaps" task.

Tier 3: 7,500 MANTA allocated to users who completed the "Make 1 swap" task.

Duplicate wallet addresses were excluded. If an address was found to have participated in more than one task, it was only considered once for the airdrop reward, placed in the highest reward tier. Consequently, participants who completed higher-tier tasks received a greater share of rewards.

🏅 Additionally, Nomis’ Multichain Score holders were eligible for an extra 10% atop the amount they were set to receive. But let's backtrack a bit.

Subscribe

The Starknet Foundation planned to distribute over 700 million $STRK to nearly 1.3 million addresses. In the previous article, we discussed Starknet's criteria for selecting users, explained their ineffectiveness and dishonesty, and most importantly, highlighted the community's response to Starknet's decision on distributing $STRK. Give it a read if you missed it.

Again, Starknet set several criteria for rewarding users: 3 months of active engagement, executing more than 5 transactions, and achieving a transaction volume of over $100.

And there was a catch—the requirement for a wallet to hold over 0.005 $ETH. Not $USDT, $USDC, or any other token, but specifically $ETH. And it had to be in the wallet, not a liquidity pool. This criterion sparks controversy, as TVL or all-time liquidity highs could better demonstrate growth to investors.

As a result, only a third of the Starknet’s community received $STRK as a reward. But others contributed too. What about their rewards? Let’s dive deeper.

The Trust Issues with Trusta

Starknet Foundation teamed up with TrustaLabs to create Sybil-resistant user lists and allocate $STRK efficiently. Starknet claimed its Provisions program would empower recipients to influence Starknet’s future through governance votes, ensuring that influence matched the user’s contribution to avoid disproportionate power.

Starknet had noble intentions — aiming for a fair distribution that would benefit both users and developers to foster ecosystem improvements through proposals and governance. However, the tools they selected ultimately proved unsuccessful.

There are also questionable criteria for rewarding developers, as Starknet chose to reward individuals who made a minimum of 3 commits to the GitHub repository, including even those who simply corrected typos in the repository documentation.

Plus, Starknet introduced an 'Early Community Members' form, offering additional tokens to prompt participants. However, crypto community has noticed a mismatch between the volume of applications and the actual number of link clicks, which has sparked questions about the fairness of the distribution’s process.

Based on all these facts, it can be argued that the scoring criteria were flawed. Interestingly, even those who met Trusta’s criteria missed out on $STRK, despite showing significant activity indicators.

Efficacy: Unveiling Nomis’ Scoring Solution

Crypto community is now navigating the Sybil era, where users aim to maximize profits with minimal effort. And we believe that everyone who has contributed to the ecosystem, whether as a Sybil with multiple accounts or a user with a single account, deserves to be rewarded. How? This is precisely what we elaborate on in the following sections of the article.

For example, Nomis’ Scoring solution ensures a fair distribution of tokens through a crucial component — a non-linear function. Let's delve deeper into this concept. By scrutinizing all the wallets and evaluating their ratings, the project gains a profound understanding of its audience. With this knowledge, the team can distinguish between different user profiles.

Here comes the intriguing part: the project has the option to either exclude less active wallets from rewards or opt for a more strategic approach.

It's important to acknowledge that even these less active wallets are integral participants in the ecosystem and deserve recognition. This is where a non-linear reward distribution function comes into play. By utilizing this method, the project acknowledges and rewards all participants, albeit to varying extents, with a focus on genuine users.

A Win-Win for Both Projects and Users

Unlike KYC methods relying on passports or IDs, Nomis uses only onchain data, granting Proof-of-Humanity in a permissionless, trustless manner. When a Sybil starts performing more onchain actions, mimicking a real user, they essentially become one.

This transformation makes them a valuable contributor and early adopter, eligible for unique rewards and benefits within ecosystems.

For all users, it's that simple: just connect your wallet to Nomis, choose the ecosystem you were active in, and our AI-powered mathematical model starts scoring your onchain data.

And for every project, Nomis offers a bot-resistant solution to safeguard higher TVL growth rates. We assist projects in accelerating their growth by utilizing the airdrop GTM without the risk of being drained and overwhelmed by bots. There is no need to hire a team of analysts and mathematicians.

We transforms airdrops into a commitment towards equitable and secure rewards distribution in the blockchain ecosystem. Our AI-driven Scoring Solution ensures genuine contributors are accurately rewarded, fostering ecosystem integrity and growth. This not only streamlines the airdrop process but also builds community trust.

In essence, Nomis establishes a solid foundation for project success and meaningful community engagement, marking a step towards a fairer blockchain landscape. We can ensure the safety of your airdrop phases.

Let’s support Onchain Reputation future together!

Subscribe

_____

Learn more about Nomis’ Scoring model: Nomis White Paper

Find more about Nomis: Visit Nomis.cc

Find out how Nomis works: Why Your Nomis Score Is So?

List your project on ScoreFront: Become a partner!

That’s why every power user, every newbie, and every Sybil decided to contribute into this ecosystem. But what is it about Starknet that has garnered such widespread interest?

First off, the backing of heavyweight investors such as Paradigm, ConsenSys, Sequoia, and Ethereum Foundation has infused the project with a touch of glamour.

Second, Starknet has bagged a whopping $283 million in investments from a variety of sponsors, showcasing robust financial backing.

Lastly, in the summer of 2022, the project announced a token launch, marking a pivotal moment. And from that moment on, every power user, every newbie... you get the idea.

However, there is an opinion within the crypto community that Starknet is a Dark Horse in the crypto space—a non-EVM chain with nearly half the number of addresses compared to zkSync, for example.

It seems the path to redefining its image involves recognizing and fairly compensating the contributions of its community. Now, let's dive into the Starknet airdrop specifics.

Starknet: A Potential Disappointment of the Year?

Imagine this: 2 ETH, $10,000, $20,000— that's the investment range from some of Starknet's most engaged users since the token launch was announced. And their reward? A big fat zero.

Post-February 14th, the crypto realm split into two camps: those who hit the jackpot with Starknet, including Sybils and single or dual-account holders, and those who came up empty. Despite their differing fortunes, the shock at Starknet's airdrop criteria united them. Only a fraction of the community got a piece of the pie, thanks to a peculiar requirement: maintaining a minimum of 0.005 ETH to be eligible for the airdrop. Plus, they needed to show three months of active engagement, execute over five transactions, and surpass a $100 transaction volume.

Interestingly, even if that 0.005 ETH was tied up in staking, it wouldn't count towards meeting the criteria. And those who staked their ETH in Starknet's protocols or held stablecoin equivalents were out of luck for the airdrop. A significant chunk of on-chain activity, therefore, got sidelined. Fairness, anyone?

There seemed to be little rivalry within Starknet's ecosystem, given the relatively low active address count. The consensus was to keep on contributing, stay loyal, and help the ecosystem grow and prove its worth to investors, with rewards naturally following suit.

But Starknet decided to play by a different set of rules. The community backed them, mostly out of a spirit of volunteerism. This might seem routine if not for the significant impact of airdrop experiences. Take Arbitrum, for example, which hosted one of the most successful airdrops in 2023. Could Starknet not take a leaf out of its book?

Here's a kicker: Despite Starknet's outlined measures to thwart Sybil attacks and reward genuine contributions, the reality was somewhat anticlimactic. Dedicated users with a single main account, over $100 in volume, more than 5 transactions, and investments in various Starknet projects ended up with less than 0.005 ETH and no STRK rewards.

We've seen some eyebrow-raising cases:

A user with merely 2 transactions snagged 360K STRK.

A Sybil with 1361 wallets bagged 1,432,800 STRK—nearly $3M worth.

What do Sybils think?

For a glimpse into the community's reaction to Starknet's airdrop, just peek at the comments under their Twitter announcement.

On the brighter side, there are satisfied Sybils who managed to secure up to 180 STRK for each of their accounts. Let's bring in the experts! Meet Brelgin: a 150-account holder, crypto aficionado, and seasoned airdrop hunter. What's the verdict from the Sybils?

"Starknet, along with other TrustaLabs-utilizing projects, has been criticized for opaque allocation criteria. Initially, the guidelines seemed nebulous at best, leading to public dissatisfaction and a subsequent broadening of the criteria. Still, the lack of verifiable data remained a sticking point.

Of the 150 identical accounts I’ve created, a mere 10 got lucky. This discrepancy casts doubts on the selection process, especially when you hear about an account landing 360 thousand STRK tokens off just two network transactions.

TrustaLabs and Starknet launched an 'Early Community Members' form, dangling extra tokens for early birds. Yet, the disparity between the number of applications and actual link clicks has raised eyebrows over the process's integrity."

See for yourself what everyone else is feeling...

What is the Justice?

So, what's the lowdown? Are token transactions alone enough to weigh someone's value in gold? Do airdrops fulfill their intended purpose, and are the outcomes justifiable?

It appears the real MVPs, deserving the lion's share, might actually be the developers and core contributors. But will this incentive keep them engaged in ecosystem development post-airdrop?

Here's where we stand: community members are pouring their time and effort into supporting projects as if it's their day job, anticipating compensation for every task. Unlike traditional employment, which has clear-cut compensation rules, the crypto space is still feeling its way around what norms to establish.

In this domain, we're all about onchain activity. Recognizing and rewarding based on this metric could speak volumes. After all, onchain activity doesn't lie and nothing speaks louder than it.

What do those balances and volumes indicate? Primarily, they're a measure of a user's wealth. But it's investors who best gauge this metric—by funneling funds into projects, they pave the way for substantial growth opportunities. It's up to the users to demonstrate the project's magnitude, commitment level, and growth pace to investors. Each project, in turn, should evaluate user onchain activity to back this up.

We ought to move past ephemeral and surface-level metrics like wallet balances and transaction volumes. Instead, a deeper dive into factors such as wallet longevity, user proposals, and votes for ecosystem enhancement should take precedence.

For insights into how an ideal algorithm could serve both projects and users alike, a forthcoming article will shed light on Nomis’ Math Machine's approach to evaluating wallet scores.

We have our own vision on how Starknet could best reward users, and an article on this topic will be coming soon.

And as we look ahead…what's next for Starknet after the STRK claim period wraps up and we step into the DeFi Spring?

Despite increased efforts to achieve profits, the temptation to make quick money remains strong in the crypto community, which is especially noticeable in the ongoing trend of airdrops.

Airdrops, which appeared long before the distribution from Aptos, Arbitrum, and even Uniswap, continue to attract users, especially those who remember the more profitable early days of cryptocurrency.

To benefit even more from airdrops, users resort to the well-known method of creating multiple accounts. These users are known as Sybils. Thus, they strive to get as much money as possible but thereby create real challenges for projects. Sybils exploit the airdrops, concentrating token ownership through major sell-offs, causing rapid token devaluation.

This exploitation has severe consequences, including financial stress for projects, eroded contributor trust, and declining TVL that impacts the entire blockchain ecosystem. In response, many projects have instituted stringent measures like KYC verification, necessitating the submission of IDs and Passports, to ensure equitable fund distribution.

Airdrops in web3 marketing: a revolution in project promotion

Airdrops have emerged as a crucial marketing strategy in the web3 landscape. They offer a direct method of distributing tokens to potential users and supporters, making them a hallmark of web3 project marketing.

This approach serves a dual purpose: promoting the project and rewarding early adopters. Therefore, it is vital to elevate the promotion of this profitable interaction for both projects and users to a new level.

The success of airdrops largely hinges on several factors, with the ability to prevent a Sybil attack being particularly important. Key case studies demonstrate that projects effectively countering Sybil attacks enjoy greater success and user engagement. Conversely, those unable to address this issue experience reduced profits and a damaged reputation.

The new era produces both winners and losers

Despite the fact that the success of airdrop depends on the ways to identify real users, some projects do not show vigilance and do not resort to Sybil recognition and preventing Sybil attacks.

Aptos is a prime example of the lack of anti-sibylline policies during its aerial landings. A significant number of tokens for $APT were in demand by airdrop hunters, which led to an overestimation of token prices during the listing, only to plummet with a huge drop. Research shows that a shocking 40% of the tokens uploaded to exchanges were received from Sybil addresses. This highlights the importance of remaining vigilant against Sybil attacks to ensure a sustainable blockchain ecosystem.

However, there are cases of token distribution within the crypto space that have been executed well, utilizing various methods to ensure proper allocation. And these methods are far from KYC and Passports:

HOP and Optimism involve the community in identifying Sybils, thereby decentralizing the responsibility. They analyze users' onchain activities, examining address connections through fund transfers and transactions. This method evaluates onchain behaviors such as smart contract interactions, transaction timings, intervals, and active periods to identify patterns. However, excessively rigorous screening may inadvertently penalize genuine users. Delegating the authority for Sybil checks to the community could also harm interpersonal trust and exacerbate conflicts among members.

Arbitrum stands out for its innovative approach to token distribution, which is based on onchain activity and community discovery algorithms like Louvain for Sybil cluster discovery.

Celestia’s airdrop, the second largest in 2023, distributed $0.73 billion worth of $TIA. Unlike typical airdrops, it excluded 'farming' methods and instead focused on developers, researchers in public goods and protocol infrastructure, active Ethereum rollup users, and stakers and IBC relayers in Cosmos Hub and Osmosis. However, by limiting users' ability to participate in close quarters, the project runs the risk of diminishing loyalty, which can be crucial for future marketing campaigns.

How Nomis provides a Sybil-Resistance to projects

But there are isolated cases when projects used their own methods of fair distribution of tokens, and such methods depend on the goals and structure of the project itself. Not all the projects have the opportunity and time to implement their own way to determine Sybils.

Consequently, many resort to using KYC and social media verifications, necessitating Passports and IDs. However, this approach harbors risks of doxxing user identities and amassing sensitive personal information. Social media verification, in particular, emerges as time-consuming form of potential identity exposure. Recall the backlash against Uniswap's proposed optional KYC policy? This move sparked apprehensions about a gradual shift towards obligatory KYC and alignment with the SEC. Also, this kind of all this approach doesn't offer 100% protection against Sybils. This data can be still manipulated, forged, or used to frame others.

More sophisticated, yet complex, alternatives include biometric verification and AI-driven tools. Although these methods excel in identifying Sybil entities, their efficacy does not necessarily translate to user benefits. For instance, Worldcoin’s iris recognition and Sei’s facial scanning have ignited controversies. They underscore the privacy dilemmas and legal implications of collecting biometric data across various legal systems.

Even the esteemed figure in cryptocurrency, Vitalik Buterin, voices concerns. While acknowledging the promise of initiatives like Proof-of-Humanity, BrightID, and Worldcoin, Buterin remains cautious about their security and privacy ramifications. He underscores the critical need to strike an equilibrium between protecting personal information and ensuring precise individual identification.

As we can see, there are numerous methods to run a marketing campaign successfully and effectively, each with its own pros and cons. However, here's the catch: the fewer and less frequent projects shave Sybils, the faster their numbers grow.

This increases the likelihood of unfair distribution and poses a risk of failure for the entire marketing campaign, potentially wasting the project's budget.

On the other hand, the better projects are at identifying Sybils, the more sophisticated they become in distinguishing them from real users. That's why it's crucial to have a solution that can accurately recognize Sybils. Nomis is precisely such a solution.

Nomis proposes your blockchain ecosystem to protect your higher TVL growth rates while mitigating the risk of its dramatic drops and loss of community trust by hiring Sybil Slayer, the market's #1 Anti-Sybil solution, as your ecosystem-wide Sybil resistance tool to help the projects built on your network grow faster by leveraging the airdrop GTM without the risk of being drained and graved by bots. Now, gaining the same thousands requires more time and effort. But the dream of massive profits with minimal work lives on as we’re here in crypto. And that’s why the retrodrop narrative appears, which is currently dominating the market. Those who recall how effortlessly money raising was know its true power.

Attention in the web3 world is primarily focused on the "big three": LayerZero, Starknet, and zkSync. However, competing for public recognition alongside them are Scroll, Aptos, and several projects that either lack native tokens or have a percentage of their tokens locked. The retrodrop concept isn't new and has been around for a long time, even before projects like Aptos or Arbitrum emerged. In fact, the first recorded crypto airdrop took place back in 2014 when Auroracoin handed out its native cryptocurrency. But in the past year, this trend has grabbed attention from users with sky-high expectations of a significant amount of money coming to the crypto market.

To maximize this money, some users resort to abusing projects that promise substantial rewards. These users are commonly referred to as Sybils. And to ensure a fair distribution of funds, projects have implemented measures such as KYC verification, requiring users to provide ID’s and Passports. The crypto industry is currently in a phase of rapid adaptation, with users and projects alike evolving to keep up.

However, there is a segment within the crypto community that disagrees with this approach taken by these projects. Nomis also advocates for fair rewards, access, and the distribution of other benefits, we are not here for “Witch-Hunting” though (but maybe for curing), considering KYC and Passports aren’t about web3 native approach like we do.

Anti-Sybil Tools = Anti-Users Tools

What the projects are trying to counter with Sybils is actually countered with ordinary users. That's essentially what Sibyls are in the first place.

KYC, IDs, and passports aren't web3-friendly. They come with the privacy risk of doxxing users and collecting personal data. Social media verification is just another time-consuming form of doxxing. Remember the Uniswap's optional KYC update that got slammed hard? Critics fear it's a slippery slope to mandatory KYC and SEC alignment. Even crypto legend Vitalik Buterin has reservations. He recognizes the potential in Proof-of-Humanity, BrightID, and Worldcoin. However, Buterin's wary of the security and privacy risks they pose. He stresses the importance of finding a balance between safeguarding personal data and accurately identifying individuals.

Just imagine having several different wallets: one for public use, one for strategies, one for work, and so on. Alternatively, you might not be a very public person, not using social media at all. Can you picture it? I believe many readers can relate to this scenario, which makes such Anti-Sybil products really inconvenient.

Collecting IRL and Social Credentials is a rather lengthy and tedious process for every user, even with fully filled Social Media profiles and just one wallet. Let's be honest, this kind of all this approach doesn't offer 100% protection against Sybils. This data can be still manipulated, forged, or used to frame others.

In contrast to passports, IDs, and other KYC services in the web3 space, Nomis uses onchain data and provides users with the ability to obtain their Proof-of-Humanity in a permissionless and trustless way. Nomis isn’t in the KYC squad, we’re different. You’re fine with just your wallet, anon.

Why Nomis is a Sybil Tool

No doxxing is not the only special power –– we’re turning Sybils into Real Users.

How does it work? You just need to connect your wallet at Nomis, we fetch your wallet data, then Nomis' Math Model powered by AI and ML works its magic. The Nomis Score algorithm is a powerful combination of statistical methods and machine learning techniques, including neural networks. Its purpose is to analyze data and identify dependencies between multiple attributes.

The algorithm follows a systematic approach that begins with onchain data extraction and then enriches it using third-party services. Expert judgment is also incorporated into the process. To process time series data, the algorithm leverages various neural network architectures such as RNNs, LSTMs, TCNs, and Transformers. Both expert knowledge and neural network models are utilized for scoring, with a primary objective of enhancing accuracy through parameter tuning.

And that's not all—Nomis has more to offer. With our ScoreFront, you can leverage your on-chain reputation to unlock even greater rewards from web3 projects. We've already discussed this in detail in our article.

https://mirror.xyz/0xnomis.eth/zC9KCCbhHLjendTVmRelWw93cjqQKukDScLJVilQBbw

So, after the magic of the Nomis Score algorithm works its wonders, you receive your Score without the need for lengthy verification processes or creating an account. It's safe to say that the more onchain actions you perform, the higher your Score will be. And as soon as Sybil starts to perform more onchain actions and tries to replicate the actions of a Real User he turns into a Real User!

By this, Sybil becomes a genuine contributor and early adopter. This makes them eligible for unique accesses, rewards, and other benefits within ecosystems.

It's a happy ending where everyone is satisfied: both the projects and their end-users. See how it works for yourself on our website below: check your Scores and start exploring the future of onchain reputation!
<div data-type="embedly" src="https://nomis.cc/" data="{"provider_url":"https://nomis.cc","description":"Leverage your onchain reputation to get personalized offers on zkSync, Blast, Telegram Open Network and 45 networks.

“One man's evil is another man's good”

Imagine if the major monopolies in goods, services, and various other sectors IRL had access to all your banking transactions and activities... It might feel like a complete dystopian scenario, isn't it?

Even though the idea of receiving personalized offers, terms and rates could be appealing, the thought of sharing data that unveils every aspect of our lives is something most of us would shy away from. Details like: our residence, hangout spots, the coffee shop around the corner where we grab morning coffee –– these little things build a clear picture of who we are and how we live each day. On top of that, there's the added worry that private data given to financial institutions could be lost or end up in the wrong hands, making it vulnerable to cyberattacks.

That’s about IRL, but does it work the same way in crypto? It's likely that you don't use crypto for IRL daily payments, and even if you did, your personal data has no relevance to it by design. Crypto transactions are impersonal in nature, and it's up to the users themselves to reveal IRL credential if they choose to. At best, one can speculate only about favorite NFTs and preferred protocols associated with a given wallet address.

Some people might argue back about Reputation Protocols using social networks for scoring or the fact that most folks join crypto through centralized services, which might reveal their wallet's connection to their IRL identity. But there's one clear point that settles this debate –– blockchain networks were designed to be transparent. With such a key factor in play, why not make the most of it and build a clear picture of <s>who you are</s> your wallet that can be leveraged for personalized web3 experiences at the next level?

And Nomis makes.

“Onchain data should be sufficient by design”

While not exactly our philosophy, we’re continuing to exclusively rely on robust onchain data in our Math Scoring Model so far, and believe, that it should be sufficient for onchain reputation. There are individuals who use a mix of wallets: one that's public (for things like ENS, NFT avatars, POAPs, etc.), and another that's private (holding most of their crypto assets, strategies, etc.). Currently, most Reputation and Identity Protocols would treat the public wallet as "belonging to a real person", granting special access and offers. However, they might mistakenly view the private one as a Sybil Attacker, even if it's actually a power user, albeit without a distinct identity.

Leveraging ML technology, the Nomis Math Model is advancing each day, while the implemented AI system empowers us to accurately identify Sybil Attackers' patterns across diverse ecosystems and projects. To ensure the best possible outcome, Nomis is also keeping a close eye on trends in the space and stay in touch with projects’ core teams. By aligning the core principles of blockchain networks with our approach, we can be confident in saying again: "Onchain data should be sufficient by design". Use-cases are only bounded by buidlers’ creativity and specific needs of a given project! You can independently integrate Reputation Score SBTs into your project, or get in touch with us to be listed on...

”ScoreFront –– the Place to Leverage Your Onchain Reputation”

Nomis ScoreFront is just one example of how Reputation Score SBTs can be used to make the most of your onchain reputation and identity. Until recently, users had very few chances to effectively manage and benefit from their onchain reputation and contributions in the space. The main idea here is "managing" – rewards might have to wait, and sometimes they wait too long, or even worse, they might not appear at all.

What is Nomis ScoreFront?

Nomis ScoreFront is a one-stop platform that allows Nomis Scores holders to take advantages of their onchain reputation by leveraging it into gaining perks, rewards, special terms and accesses through our partners offerings listed on ScoreFront.

The space demands rewards that are fairly shared among those who truly contribute, those who were early to adopt, and those who actively participate.

Last week the release of Sybil Prevention Credential on Galxe powered by Nomis caused a surge of demands for score. As well as a wave of interest in how Nomis Score works. The question is absolutely justified, so here are the key points.

Briefly about Nomis

1. Nomis is made to establish the first iteration of reputation in web3 (You can read more on how we feel it here and here). Transparency of blockchain gives us an opportunity to build reputation on a strong basis of open on-chain data.

2.The core of Nomis is strong mathematics and hierarchy analysis in particular. This makes score multifaceted, obvious and independent.

3.Nomis is designed to help developers deliver a personalized Web3 experience to users in various Web3 verticals such as DeFi, DAO and Web3 Social.

How Nomis scores

1.Nomis analyzes over 30 parameters. The math model behind Nomis Protocol could be flexibly adjusted to the needs and priorities of a certain web3 project. It means that weights of parameters counted by Nomis Protocol could change from project to project. And thus a unique architecture could be provided.

2.Even though Nomis score is adjustable and final combination depends on the project it is always integral. High value of one particular parameter (e.g. number of transactions) doesn’t necessarily causes high final score.

3.More over, the correlation between parameters isn’t linear. Thus increment in one parameter (few more NFT’s bought or a contract deployed) doesn’t lead to the increment in the final score directly.

4.The fact that the score is lower than required (for example, Sybil Prevention Credential on Galxe requires the score to be above 40) is certainly not an accusation of your bad intentions or whatever. It just means that the on-chain data doesn't provide enough reason to assign a higher score in this architecture of parameters. Yes, a fine but important line. In fact, the same data could provide one score value to decide if a wallet can get an undercollateralized loan, and a completely different score value if we are assessing eligibility for an airdrop.

5. In the most general sense, the recommendation is: be an active web3 user and have as many on-chain records of your activity in different web3 verticals (DeFi, NFT, DAOs, Social, etc). The world of web3 is growing every moment with new opportunities.

If you feel that it’s a good time to mint your score, we feel it too!
<div data-type="embedly" src="https://nomis.cc/multichain" data="{"provider_url":"https://nomis.cc","description":"Leverage Multichain onchain reputation at your fingertips.

We won’t be mistaken to say that each time you think about drop you recall cheaters. They transform ingenuity, activity — originally positive character traits — into droppers headache.

Inefficiency, injustice, and sickening feeling that you are fooled really demotivates either the team or real community. On the other hand airdropping is still a very straight forward way to invite new users, motivate community, support usage or leverage chain activity. Then does it mean that sybil attacks are necessary evil? We offer you to answer «No!»

Due to transparency of the blockchain all this moving around the same amount of tokens multiple times, or creating multiple wallets and moving the same tokens around is visible. But it means nothing unless you are equipped properly.

Nomis custom wallet-scoring model is applied to assess the eligibility of addresses to be rewarded. Our score is based on more than 30 parameters including different types of wallet activities. Customization let reconfigure those parameters and assign them to a weight in order to downgrade cheaters. Certain Nomis score (lower than chosen definite level) becomes an obvious signal of suspicious behavior.

Nomis has outstanding accuracy in detecting bots by analyzing wallet activity across multiple EVM chains. As a result the credential prevents bots and cheaters from being rewarded and maximizes the ROI of your campaign.

Surely it doesn’t necessarily mean that wallet owner is cheater. Still usage of Nomis decrease the number of cases to be examined manually to amount that won’t collapse support team.

We are not sure we could change cheaters mind but we certainly could make their ingenuity worthless.

Chесk your score at
<div data-type="embedly" src="https://nomis.cc/" data="{"provider_url":"https://nomis.cc","description":"Leverage your onchain reputation to get personalized offers on zkSync, Blast, Telegram Open Network and 45 networks.

Web3 reputation agenda is gaining momentum. The flow of posts and articles related to the topic still isn’t lavish, but the term is becoming more common. As advocates for this technology, we believe that showcasing use cases of reputation scores in various web3 verticals, such as DeFi, DAO and Web3 Social, can help spread the idea.

It isn’t that obvious which part of web3 is the most fruitful in terms of reputation. We decided to start with DeFi just because Nomis arrived as a solution aimed to solve DeFi loans over-collateralization problem.

The core philosophy of DeFi loans was to make capital accessible to everyone, but the present structure creates hindrances to mass adoption. The barrier is that DeFi loans are always over-collateralized by design. It makes them too elitist and reserved for those with both tech skills and capital.

It might seem weird, as one borrows because they need funds they don't own in most cases. So, DeFi loans, as a source of capital, aren't accessible for mainstream borrowers and underserved populations looking for alternatives in the eyes of the upcoming recession.

TradFi banks use scoring models to figure out the reliability of a borrower. Age, education, income, health, financial stability and lots of other parameters shape the portrait. Even leaving aside the point of ethics most of them non-transferable to the world of web3.

By leveraging the transparency of blockchain, we can create a new type of reliability—web3 reputation. Through open information and analysis, we can decide whether to trust someone based on their reputation rather than personal identification. Nomis, for example, uses over 30 weighted parameters including the number of transactions, counterparty wallets, NFTs held and traded, and participation in DAOs to create a comprehensive reputation score.

This score can either grant access to DeFi projects or indicate the need for collateral revision. We believe that using impartial and comprehensive scoring can open up DeFi to more people.

DeFi is just one facet of web3 reputation usage. In the upcoming posts, we'll explore how reputation scores can help builders provide personalized experiences in a wide range of opportunities provided by web3.

—

Get your Nomis score: nomis.cc

Follow us: @0xNomis

Known from antiquity for centuries it has been around, deeply embedded in various levels of communication and transactions. Seems like after all these time there are no secrets left in this term, except for philosophical and ethical aspects that are endless.

But with the advent of web3, the discussion around reputation has gained importance again. The concept of reputation as a combination of trust and accountability remains highly relevant, but with a new and specific challenge. The thing that brings an added layer of complexity is that in web3 reputation and identity become separate.

In fact reputation is the only (ok, at least the main) source of trustworthiness in web3. Either when you need to be trusted by someone, or when you need to be sure in the accountability of the other parties involved in communication.

And here is seems to be the most distinguishing peculiarity of reputation in web3. It’s no longer a philosophical and ethical category, but an applied function which is deeply intertwined with the challenges of identity, trust and accountability in this new digital environment.

It may seem a disappointing downgrading of the term from the highs of philosophy to the level of the tool. But does it really what we should regret on the threshold of the new era?

—

Nomis — web3 reputation scoring protocol

Follow us on Twitter: @0xNomis

For more than 10 years, the core team of Nomis Protocol has been working on AI-based projects that help people open new opportunities in matching employers and employees, making peer-to-peer deals, looking for counterparties, and more.

You may remember Vitalik Buterin's sensational article from May 2022, which raised many questions. However, one of the questions seems to have been overlooked in further discussions: the possibility of reproducing social interactions in web3. Although this was mentioned in Vitalik's article, it was not fully explored. Perhaps this is because the article was a manifesto, attempting to outline the future, but the authors themselves admitted that concrete solutions had not yet been found. Nevertheless, it seems that the time has come, and we at Nomis are doing just that.

In the real world, we all have a reputation, whether good, bad, or complex. However, this becomes insignificant once we move into web3. We become nothing more than wallet addresses, right? Or not…

The authors of the aforementioned article suggested several ways to address this issue, but at Nomis, we saw another important aspect. As web3 expands, the number of actions we take together grows, and almost all blockchains make this information available. All the traces we leave, such as transactions, participation in DAOs, NFT purchases, participation in airdrops, and contributing to certain projects/ecosystems, are visible to everyone. Is our reputation in the "normal" world made up of anything else?

The question is, how can we turn this data into reputation? Answering this question could revolutionize web3 and set a new global trend. This is where we believe Nomis comes in. We rely on the extensive experience mentioned at the beginning, which is based on serious mathematics in the usage and prediction of blockchain data.

We launched Nomis as an identity protocol that enables users to leverage their on-chain reputation and get personalized web3 experiences. Our goal is to enable everyone to build their reputation in web3. We believe that the transparency of blockchain allows this reputation to be as multifaceted and full of possibilities as it is in the real world.

Of course, we still have many questions to answer about reputation and how to create it. But we're ready to tackle them and continue this important and intriguing conversation together!

Stay tuned…

P.S. This is our first-ever publication! Feel free to collect—it’s probably something 🤫

Subscribe
