The rise of decentralized autonomous organizations, or DAOs, and the trend towards deglobalization are two significant developments that are shaping the future of governance and the global economy. In this article, we will explore the concept of isolation theory and how it can be used to understand and explain these trends. By applying this theory to our understanding of the future of governance and the global economy, we can gain valuable insights and perspectives that can help us to better navigate these complex and dynamic environments.

The people of the world are slowly waking up in masses and the collective consciousness is shifting towards a new world order powered by the blockchain technologies. Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) phenomenon is becoming a solid trend in the crypto space which makes me think how DAO phenomena will play-out in the near and distant future because it seems that we may hear a lot more about them especially in the next 10 years. Straight-forward proposal and voting processes are already in play in various blockchain communities experimenting with NFTs and other various protocols. This article will ideologically discuss how DAOs can become actual governments in real life with land; and how such progress might kill globalization as well as the probable renewed feudal regime that might be the new world order for the next century.

As the world continues to evolve and change, the concept of isolation is becoming increasingly relevant to the way that governments and societies operate. The isolation theory suggests that, in the future, governments and societies will become more isolated and decentralized, and that this trend will have profound implications for the way that these systems are governed and managed.

What is Social Isolation Theory

Isolation concept itself is first proposed by Sigmund Freud as a defense mechanism in psychoanalytic theory. Social isolation can be derived from Freud’s proposition applied to the masses and defined structurally as the absence of social interactions, contacts, and relationships with family and friends, with neighbors on an individual level, and with “society at large” on a broader level. Does it sound familiar? Probably yes because everyone who survived 2020 Covid19 Virus Outbreak has experienced the same defense mechanism dictated by the authorities. This event triggered dormant feelings in people which were seeded by the changing lifestyles ignited by technology.

Furthermore, the idea of the collective consciousness organically engineering the behaviors of individuals is highly spoken of in many theories such as the “mass society theory” about the industrialization aftermath by Kornhauser. When the new norms of ethics are considered of the today’s multi-cultural societies with respect to the pre-internet ages, it is safe to bet on decentralization to engineer individual and group behaviors even more to isolation in a much larger scale than expected.

Decentralization = Isolation?

Isolation and decentralization might look like two distinct concepts that are not necessarily related. Isolation refers to the state of being isolated or separated from others, while decentralization refers to the distribution of power, authority, or function away from a central location or group.

However, isolation can be a result of decentralization if decentralization leads to the fragmentation of a society or system into smaller, isolated groups. For example, if a central government decentralizes power and authority to regional or local governments, this could lead to the isolation of these smaller groups from the central government and from each other as introduced above as well.

It is possible that individualism could be seen as a potential solution to the challenges of mass society. Individualism, by emphasizing the importance of the individual and individual freedom, could potentially help to counteract the loss of community, social bonds, and individual autonomy that is described by isolation theory. In this way, individualism could be seen as both a possible reason and a consequence of decentralization, thus isolation theory, as it could help to restore the importance of the individual and individual freedom in modern society.

Practical Governance by Artificial Intelligence

The rise of DAOs and other decentralized systems also has important implications for the field of AI governance. As AI systems become more advanced and autonomous, it will become increasingly important to develop effective governance mechanisms to ensure that these systems are used in a responsible and ethical manner. The decentralized nature of DAOs and other systems could provide a useful model for governing AI systems, as they are designed to operate without central control and can be more easily adapted to the complex and dynamic environment of AI technology.

AI can provide a range of insights that can be useful for governing decisions. For example, AI systems can analyze large amounts of data and provide insights on trends and patterns, such as changes in population demographics, economic indicators, or public opinion. These insights can help decision-makers to understand the current state of a given situation and to identify potential opportunities or challenges.

AI can also provide insights on the potential consequences of different courses of action. For example, AI systems can use predictive analytics and simulations to evaluate the likely outcomes of different decisions and to provide decision-makers with information on the potential risks and rewards of different options. This can help decision-makers to make more informed and strategic decisions.

However, the isolation theory for future DAO governments also raises concerns about the potential for evil scenarios to emerge. As societies become more isolated and decentralized, there is a risk that individuals or groups could use these systems for nefarious purposes, such as to manipulate public opinion, interfere in elections, or enable cyber-attacks. The decentralized nature of these systems could make it difficult to identify and prevent such activities, and the consequences of such actions could be disastrous. Let’s talk about more optimistic scenarios next.

AI drew this image.

Self-Sustainable & Interdependent Societies

Self-sustainable and interdependent societies are communities of individuals and groups that are able to meet their own needs without relying on external resources or support. These societies are characterized by their ability to produce and share the resources that they need to thrive, such as food, energy, and shelter. They are also interdependent, meaning that they rely on the cooperation and collaboration of different individuals and groups within the community to meet their needs.

Self-sustainable and interdependent societies can be organized and governed using a variety of different models, including decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), resource-based economies, and smart agriculture, logistics, communications and defense systems. These models and systems should be designed to support the development of communities that are able to meet their own needs and to thrive in a world that is characterized by rapid change and uncertainty.

However, the development of self-sustainable and interdependent societies can also face challenges and obstacles. These can include resistance from traditional governments and institutions, the need to overcome social and cultural barriers, and the challenge of building and maintaining the infrastructure and systems that are needed to support these societies. Overall, self-sustainable and interdependent societies have the potential to provide individuals and communities with new opportunities to create value and earn income, and to support the development of resilient and adaptable communities that are able to thrive in a changing world.

Central Bank Digital Currency Resolution

Traditional governments may try to implement central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) in order to support the development of self-sustainable and interdependent societies that are governed using a DAO model. CBDCs are digital versions of fiat money that are issued and backed by central banks. They can be used as a means of payment and exchange, and can provide individuals and communities with a convenient and secure way to transact and store value.

The implementation of CBDCs by traditional governments could provide individuals and communities with a stable and reliable form of digital money that is backed by the central government. This could help to support the development of self-sustainable and interdependent societies, and could provide individuals and communities with new opportunities to create value and earn income.

However, the implementation of CBDCs by traditional governments may also face challenges and resistance from the community of participants in DAO societies. This is because DAO societies are decentralized and autonomous, and the introduction of CBDCs by traditional governments could be seen as an attempt to exert central control and influence over these systems. As happened in Nigeria where Bitcoin is very popular, the citizens didn’t adopt the government’s CBDC because they don’t simply trust the government.

The New Feudalism or Not?

AI drew this image.

The end of globalization is sometimes referred to as the "new feudalism," although this term is not used widely and is not a commonly accepted term. Globalization refers to the process of increasing economic, political, and social interdependence and integration between nations and regions, and the end of globalization refers to the reversal of this process.

Feudalism, on the other hand, refers to a historical system of governance and social organization that was characterized by the ownership of land and other resources by a small group of nobles, and the exploitation of the labor of the peasantry. In feudal societies, the nobility held political and economic power, and the peasants were required to work the land and pay various forms of tribute in exchange for protection and the right to use the land.

While there are some similarities between the end of globalization and feudalism, such as the re-emergence of national and regional barriers and the concentration of power and wealth in the hands of a small elite, there are also significant differences. Unlike feudal societies, modern societies are characterized by complex and dynamic economic and social systems, and the end of globalization is not likely to result in the emergence of a feudal-like system.

Let’s talk about the emerging creator economies as a part of the new complex and dynamic economic and social systems for example.

It is difficult to say exactly how big the creator economy is, as there is no precise definition of what constitutes the creator economy, and the size and scope of the creator economy can vary depending on how it is measured and defined. However, some estimates suggest that the creator economy is significant and growing rapidly, with some analysts estimating that the global creator economy could be worth trillions of dollars.

The creator economy is often associated with the rise of the gig economy, which refers to the growth of short-term, flexible, and independent work arrangements that are facilitated by digital platforms and technology. The gig economy has provided individuals with new opportunities to earn income and create value by providing a wide range of services and products, including creative works such as music, art, writing, and other forms of intellectual property.

The creator economy is also closely linked to the rise of decentralized and peer-to-peer networks, which are digital platforms and systems that enable individuals and communities to interact, collaborate, and exchange value without the need for central intermediaries or authorities. Decentralized networks can provide individuals with new opportunities to create and share creative works, and to earn income and build wealth by participating in these networks.

The size and scope of the creator economy is difficult to determine, but, it is clear that the creator economy is significant and growing, and that it has the potential to provide individuals and communities with new opportunities to create value and earn income outside of traditional methods of the old world.

OFF-THE-GRID WEB3

AI drew this image.

Off the grid communities are groups of individuals and families who live independently of public utilities and other external sources of power, water, and other essential services, and who possibly can be organized and governed using decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) models. These communities are typically located in remote and rural areas, and are characterized by their reliance on renewable energy sources and other self-sustaining technologies.

Off the grid DAO communities can be supported by the use of a resource-based economy model as well, which is a system that is based on the efficient and equitable distribution of resources within the community. In a resource-based economy, individuals and groups are able to contribute their skills and talents to the community, and are rewarded with access to the resources and services that they need to meet their needs.

The use of a resource-based economy model can support the development of off the grid DAO communities by providing individuals and groups with new opportunities to create value and earn income, and by enabling the efficient and equitable distribution of resources within the community.

Additionally, a resource-based economy model can support the development of off the grid DAO communities by promoting collaboration and cooperation among individuals and groups within the community. In a resource-based economy, individuals and groups are able to work together to meet the needs of the community, and are able to share their skills and resources in order to support the common good. This model has strong foundation to help the struggle with the social isolation theory.

Getting into the Metaverse Cities

As a futurist, I believe that metaverse cities are likely to play a significant role in the near future, and will provide individuals with new opportunities to connect, collaborate, and create in ways that are not possible in the physical world. These digital cities will exist within virtual and augmented reality environments, and will be accessible from a variety of devices and platforms, such as smartphones, tablets, virtual reality headsets and possibly nano-bots hybridized with humans which is in line with trans-humanism philosophy and movement that is focused on the use of technology to enhance and extend the capabilities of the human body and mind. This can include the use of artificial intelligence, robotics, and other technologies to augment and enhance human abilities and experiences, and can support the development of new forms of consciousness and intelligence.

In the context of metaverse cities, trans-humanism can be supported by the use of virtual and augmented reality technologies, which can provide individuals with new opportunities to explore and experience the capabilities of their own bodies and minds. For example, individuals may be able to use virtual and augmented reality technologies to explore new forms of expression, communication, and collaboration, and may be able to use these technologies to enhance and extend their own abilities and experiences.

Another key argument within the metaverse cities concept is the potential to support the simulation theory, which is a philosophical and scientific idea that suggests that the universe, or at least a part of it, is a computer-generated simulation. This theory is based on the idea that the world and everything in it is created by a sophisticated computer program, and that the universe we experience is a virtual reality generated by this program fed by the big data, which refers to the vast amounts of data that are generated by individuals and organizations every day. Big data can be used to support the development of virtual and augmented reality technologies, and can provide individuals and organizations with the information and insights that they need to create more realistic and immersive experiences within metaverse cities.

AI drew this image.

Conclusion

The rise of DAO governments and the trend towards deglobalization are both significant developments that are likely to have a profound impact on the future of our world. The use of isolation theory to understand and explain these trends can provide us with valuable insights and perspectives, and can help us to better understand the challenges and opportunities that we are likely to face in the coming years.

Overall, the integration of isolation theory and various futurist concepts into our thinking about the future of governance and the global economy can provide us with a valuable framework for understanding and navigating these complex and dynamic environments. By using this theory to inform our decision-making and strategy, we can better position ourselves to take advantage of the opportunities that are likely to arise, and to mitigate the risks and challenges that we may encounter along the way.

Thanks for reading <3
