Today, Tuesday July 23rd, 2024, will be the first day TradFi (traditional finance) will be able to have exposure to Ethereum through the ETH ETF launch. BlackRock, Fidelity, ARK 21Shares, Bitwise, Franklin Templeton, VanEck, Grayscale and Invesco Galaxy will all have their own listings and Coinbase will provide custody for most of these companies.

We have seen great success of the BTC ETF, seeing billions of dollars invested into the BTC ETF's, brining in institutions as new holders of BTC for their clients. Spencer noted yesterday that IBIT (BlackRock's BTC ETF) has passed QQQ in YTD net flows... even with QQQ having a 7 day head start as IBIT did not launch until January 11th.

ETH has always been #2 behind BTC, so we can assume ETH will have lower inflows than BTC, but we should still expect to see billions of dollars flow into the ETH ETF's. Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock was interviewed in March and talked about tokenization of assets which makes so much sense. Instantaneous settlement, an up to date ledger, etc. will 100% be the future, just a matter of how it is implemented and it seems Larry has hinted many times it will be with Ethereum.

So, what does this mean?

With the current market sentiment being pretty bullish for the next few months / year and billions of dollars about to flow into Ethereum in the middle of a bull run, I think we will continue to see ETH climb up in price. This will have a trickle down effect to the ETH ecosystem, including $BETS. People take their profits from ETH or play the ETH beta's to invest in coins that will outperform ETH, like $BETS. Let's see, I am excited.

While most memecoins are down 50%, 80%, 99% from ATH's lately, we are already starting to see the "99.99% of memecoins will go to zero". This is where I get crazy bullish on $BETS. When the memecoins go down that only post pictures of ... memes, people get bored and move on. The only thing they can really do is post more pictures. Sure, they can try to make a game or something but end of the day, people like the meme, or they don't.

"Bitcoin is down 15% off of its all time highs ..."

"Bitcoin was rejected multiple times off of 70k range..."

"The bull market is over!"

As of June 28th morning, Bitcoin is up 39% YTD and has been ranging from $58,000 to $73,000 the last 4 months. A year ago today, BTC was in the low 30k range, yet people are very pessimistic even though we are on a good run and have a lot of bullish indicators.

A few things to remember:

-Bull Markets have always seen multiple 20-40%+ corrections, to only shoot higher later on

-Bitcoin halving was only 2 months ago, cycles last about 16-18 months on average

-In previous cycles, we see a few months of chop post halving, followed by the "banana zone" a few months after the halving.

-Macro conditions still look okay

-U.S. Presidential candidates are warming up to crypto

-U.S. stocks are near all time high's

Is this time different? I could be wrong, but I don't think so. Yes, recently we have had some FUD about Germany Government and Mt. Gox selling BTC. But there have been many of these cases in BTC history and usually it is just a small hiccup when you look back. The BTC ETF is still so new, BTC should have constant flow coming in from various avenues for years (Retirement & Pension funds being a great example).

I speak about BTC & ETH mostly as they are the top two in the crypto space. For the most part, everything in the crypto ecosystem usually has correlation to how they perform. $BETS can moon at any point, we have seen the whole market down and $BETS is up at times. But when ETH is up and everyone is making money on ETH, it is easier for them to rotate their profits into undervalued assets like $BETS. We see the Beta plays usually go parabolic when the majors (like ETH) go up, so $BETS is in a good position to do a few X's off of Ethereum's run this cycle.

The ETH ETF is now rumored to launch next week. It seems BTC will still be the #1, but we should still expect billions of dollars to flow into the ETH ETF as well. With these conditions and still the "beginning phase" of the bull market, I am placing my $BETS that this cycle is not nearly over.

Now there are rumors of SOL getting its own ETF (would not be for a while). VanEck ETF fund has filed for a Solana trust recently and as it seems BTC ETF is going well, VanEck believes it is worth while to apply for SOL now. Indicating crypto is here to stay.

Previously, when BTC & ETH go parabolic, it draws a ton of attention to this space and people get drawn into the ecosystem as a whole. People will go down the rabbit hole and see projects like All Street Bets having weekly discord chats with Jaime and want to get involved. With the crypto bull market heating up, its time to make sure that attention is making its way to All Street Bets.

We've seen some polarizing takes recently. Is the top in? Are we in the 1st inning? etc... The markets (U.S. stocks & crypto in general) appear to be very fragile at the moment. The majority of investors do not know what to do. Any slightly bad news results in panic and sell off; any slightly good news and everyone is back to all in. Everyone wants the bull market to be up only mode, but are getting scared very quickly.

The BTC bull run peaks about a year and half AFTER the halving; and we are only two months into the post halving cycle. There will be pullbacks, this is expected in any phase of any market, but for the next few months BTC has a lot of time to run.

What's going on in the Macro world?

Unfortunately, BTC is in a phase right now where it is highly correlated to U.S stocks... for now. This will change eventually, but for now the crypto ecosystem will have some reactions to the macro environment news.

Recently we got some important data in the U.S economy. Last week, we received data about the U.S unemployment rate slightly rising (meaning more people are without a job). This rate has increased 0.1% since the previous month and came in 0.1% above the expected rate. This caused some people to worry we might be headed in the wrong direction, but a 0.1% rise is not the end of the world at the moment. This is what caused some sell off last week, and with the inflation data coming in later on, people decided to de-risk until we get some more information.

The next big catalyst resulted in good news, flipping everyone's stance to bullish again. CPI, or inflation data, came in about 0.1% lower than expected and slightly lower than last month - showing inflation is getting back to a normal rate. This quickly sold off as the Federal Reserve mentioned they will not rush into lowering the Federal Funds Rates too much, too quickly. Giving investors a roller coaster of emotions and price action.

The main fears are mostly revolved around employment, inflation data & Federal Reserve Funds Rates. The goal is to have inflation at a reasonable level and keep people employed - this will allow the Federal Reserve to drop the Funds Rate, helping business's to continue to grow and hire more people. When people have jobs, they spend money & invest money, helping the economy grow and so on in this continuous pattern.

Odds are the Funds Rate will start to drop in the next few months. Sprinkle in the fact there is no recession on the horizon, ETH ETF will be listed in the next few weeks, U.S. Congress and Presidential candidates are becoming pro-crypto, etc. It seems the crypto environment is in a good position for the next few months & years. Remember, even in the previous bull markets, there were some big pullbacks. There is still plenty of time.

The time is almost here (we think). Coinbase has been teasing about their “Smart Wallet” integration these last few weeks with the rumors circulating it will be released to the public on June 5th. But what is the Coinbase Smart Wallet really? And how does it work? What will this mean for $BETS? Good questions, let’s dive in. 

What is it?

Coinbase “Smart Wallet” integration will be a simple and quick portal for users to enter the crypto world - or as you will see all over X, to bring people “On-chain”. Built for mass adoption, any Coinbase account in the world will be able to participate the crypto world easily… you don’t even need a Coinbase Wallet. 

Smart Wallet integration will first allow access to Ethereum Layer 2’s such as Base, Polygon, Avalanche, BNB, Zora, Arbitrum & Optimism to start with. This opens the user's world to different coins, NFT’s, communities, ect. in a very simple way with very few steps needed. 

Instead of buying Ethereum on an exchange, set up a wallet as an extension (MetaMask), copy and paste the address, use your ETH as gas to transfer this ETH, then hope you sent it to the right place and bridge your ETH to Base; you can set up your Smart Wallet in less than 10 seconds and use your Coinbase ETH balance to transact.

It will even be available for brick and mortar businesses. The team has been contacted by barbers & restaurants to see if Base and Smart Wallets would help reduce their business transaction fees. To cut out the middleman like Mastercard or AMEX who takes a % of each sale. 


How does it work?

Smart Wallet integration uses passkeys (like FaceID or TouchID) instead of seed phrases, hardware wallets or MetaMask extension passwords. This allows the user to go from no wallet to having received the NFT they just minted within seconds. You will need ETH in your Coinbase account for any transaction to work, but soon Smart Wallets will be able to pull money straight from your Debit / Credit card to allow you to transact. 

This is made for your everyday person, who does not want to hold many different wallets, send ETH across wallets or not being able to transact for not holding enough ETH for gas. This is crypto made easy. More information can be found at: smart-wallet.xyz

What to expect? / What does this mean for bets? 


Realistically, I don't think any Base token will see a major inflow of ETH right when the Smart Wallets are released. I hope I am wrong. The peak mania we saw last cycle isn’t here just yet. BUT this sets $BETS up really well for when the retail mania comes. Retail will want the easiest way to get involved, and that will be with Base tokens. They can use the simplicity of the Smart Wallets to get in on the frenzy, instead of having to deal with buying Solana and transferring it and then purchasing on a DEX.

Base has seen a consistent increase in new users & volume and I expect this number to increase. Remember, we are only about 10-15% of the way through the bull market average life cycle (peak is usually ~16-18 months AFTER the halving, and we are less than 2 months out from the halving).

Earlier this week we wrote about the Macro Environment, now we will dive in to see what this means for $BETS.

First, let's quickly go over what $BETS is. $BETS is the token for All Street Bets, a culturecoin, where users can buy the token and have access to the All Street Bets community and holder perks. The $BETS culturecoin was launched on Base, a Layer 2 blockchain built on Ethereum, which puts it under the Ethereum ecosystem. This is important because Ethereum has been known to have a secure, stable and powerful blockchain, allowing projects to build confidently; and Base gives you all of the benefits of Ethereum but with very low fees. Jaime’s vision with All Street Bets is simple. He wants to disrupt the financial ecosystem and push for freedom. Jaime founded one of the most famous subreddit pages on Reddit, called Wall Street Bets (WSB). Reddit would limit Jaime, telling him what he can and cannot do on this page he created, and would not even be allowed to talk about cryptocurrency... on a financial platform. Jaime built WSB subreddit from 0 subscribers all the way up to about 14 million subscribers, bringing disruption to the financial space.

Out of frustration with his baby, Jaime wanted to recreate WSB but bigger, better & decentralized - this is where All Street Bets steps in. An inclusive global community where anyone in the world is welcome to participate and hang out with like-minded people. Now, lets get into how this bull market will benefit $BETS.

A rising tide lifts all boats - the whole crypto economy usually benefits when BTC increases in value and the ecosystem below these majors (BTC, ETH & SOL) usually explode, the Beta plays. During the last cycle, Ethereum NFT’s went parabolic - CryptoPunks was the project everyone wanted to be part of, and in the 2021 cycle a CryptoPunk sold for 8,000 ETH or about $23 million at the time. As BTC, ETH and macro economic factors are looking bullish, this is a good sign for $BETS to follow and take-off.

Assets under ETH can go up or down in price at any point, whether ETH is doing good or bad depending on many, many factors of that asset. But usually, when ETH goes up in price, the whole ETH ecosystem will follow. One of my favorite follows on twitter is @SatoshiFlipper, and in the chart below he is showing the bullishness of ETH right now.

When ETH has gone up in value, investors will use this ETH and rotate into undervalued assets in the ecosystem. As mentioned above, in the last cycle, many people rotated their ETH into NFT’s as ETH ran up in price. This year, it is looking like coins are the hot trade and will be where people rotate their ETH. Not only are we in a bull market, but Ethereum recently got approved for an ETF, allowing hundreds of millions (probably billions) of institutional money to flow into ETH. $BETS is in a good position to capitalize and be a place where people will want to rotate that juiced up ETH. Another bullish case for Base, is the release of the Coinbase Smart Wallets.

Coinbase Smart Wallets:

Coinbase created and is launching their "Coinbase Smart Wallet" integration, now rumored (leaked?) to be June 5th! Coinbase Smart Wallets will allow Base tokens to be traded right from their Coinbase ecosystem, with the ability to buy $BETS in seconds with just a few clicks. For those wondering, Coinbase has exposure to over 100 million users.

Instead of needing to buy ETH, send it to a wallet, bridge to Base, and then buy on an exchange, users will be able to buy Base tokens within seconds thanks to Coinbase. Solana memecoins have been the craze for crypto native people recently, and similarly, it can be difficult to get started - needing to buy SOL, send it to a wallet, go to an exchange and buy there. This Smart Wallet integration is coming at a great time, as Base itself is starting to heat up. As of the 29th, Base has seen 600,000 users join Base already, and about "50,000 new wallets are using Base every day" as mentioned below by @DopeOxide.

To me this is a “we are early” sign. As more users are coming to Base, more volume is happening and I believe this number will continue to rise once the Smart Wallets are launched. Nothing is guaranteed - but your average Joe is just starting to hear about Solana memecoins like $WIF (coin called DogWifHat, the most popular Solana memecoin at the moment with a market cap of ~$3.4B). We are also starting to see celebrities join the movement and launch tokens as well (Caitlyn Jenner, Rich the Kid, Iggy Azalea to name a few), giving millions of fans exposure to the crypto space.

Most people don’t understand or want to go through the headaches of figuring out how to buy these memecoin, but they want in on the fun and the good vibes of the communities.

The below chart is showing Base volume (red line) per day compared to Ethereum (yellow) and Solana (green). Base was launched in late 2023 and has reached a peak of $1.2B of volume traded in a single day. Solana memecoins are the popular trade so far in 2024, but Ethereum has more volume. As Base is still new, and coming in hot, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some Ethereum volume rotate into Base tokens and see Base close the gap in volume vs Solana. Base trading it more attractiveness than ETH trading as it has much lower fees. If Base were to match Solana volume, it would be almost a 5x from May 30th’s volume…. Over $1B more. Which would put $BETS in a great position to benefit.

Accumulation Phase:

Between the start of the bull run, ETH ETF, Base Smart Wallet release and the All Street Bets team non-stop building, $BETS is getting ready to rocket. Lets look into what happens when projects and communities build during accumulation phases.

  This is one of the top "meme coins" on ETH, $PEPE. The first red circle from the first run up was in May 2023. The second red circle is around February 2024, that is 9 months of accumulation before it spring boarded. Good things happen to those who wait.

Here is the $BETS chart, with just under two months of accumulation. Although I don't think $BETS will take as long to run up as $PEPE did because we are in the bull market currently, whereas $PEPE was accumulating before the bull market started.

 

Here is another fun chart to speculate with. @CryptoCurb here is going back to the $WIF early days. He shows that meme coins usually have this “Test Pump” followed by some accumulation and chop, and then a “Real Pump” later on. Usually weeks, later. $WIF was around $.01 per coin at its peak during this Test Pump phase, and is now trading over $3.4 per coin, after the Real Pump phase.

Many think $WIF is just getting started as well. During the bull run last cycle, Doge was everyone's favorite memecoin and hit a market cap of $90 billion. As mentioned above, $WIF is everyone's favorite memecoin in 2024 and is currently at a $3.4B market cap. $BETS is currently at a $5.2 million market cap... I don't think any of us are bullish enough. We should see a bunch of coins reach $1B + this cycle.

A lot of factors are coming together at the perfect time - with the macro environment conditions, reasons in this article and the ideas $BETS are building out to fruition, I will see you on the moon. Is the top in? 🤔 let’s see:

 Firstly, this is a macro dive in, and we will see how it relates to $BETS later on. In my opinion (as your average crypto bro who is by no means an expert) no, the top is not in as of May 2024. I don't know when we will reach this point, but based on the below we may have a long way to go. Two of the most famous sayings in investing & economics are: 

-"This time is different"

-"History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes"

Remember these two as we read below. Before we dig into the charts, lets go over a few basic Bitcoin (BTC) references:

Block – groups of transactions permanently stored on the Bitcoin blockchain

Mining – network wide competition to solve complex math problems that validate transactions and help secure the BTC network 

Reward – financial incentive (in BTC) given to Bitcoin miners for validating blocks of transactions on the BTC blockchain 

“The Halving” every 210,000 “blocks” (about every 4 years), the reward for mining Bitcoin gets cut in half. This was implemented to keep BTC inflation in check - less newly created BTC are available creating more scarcity.

Here is a chart to show the mining reward per block, and about every 4 years, the reward will continue to get cut in half, until all 21 million BTC have been mined (this should be around the year 2140).


Now let’s get into it. Here are some key points comparing the previous cycles to this one. 

  1. One of the most iconic charts in BTC history is the stock to flow model from @100trillionUSD on X. The chart takes the stock to flow ratio (used across many assets like gold) and illustrates it over time. The Stock is the amount of BTC (21 million ever, it is not possible to create more) and the Flow meaning the yearly production (mining). With the claim that scarcity is a powerful force. As the amount of BTC being mined goes down over time, supply and demand will take over, and the price of BTC should continue to go up over time.

    (blue dots indicate the time around the halving, with red dots indicating the time post halving). Here is a article where PlanB goes into more depth on this topic.

  2. The Bitcoin halving thesis is that the cycle top has always come ~18 months AFTER the halving. The BTC halving for this cycle was April 20th, 2024 (iconic) which would indicate the bull run should continue until mid to late 2025 if the BTC trends continue. In this first chart from @rektcapital below, the dotted vertical lines show the halving date and as you can see, in every cycle there are a few weeks of chop followed by a massive run up - smashing previous all time highs. As the amount of BTC mined goes down, supply shock kicks in. The orange circles compare where we are now, to what has happened at this point in previous BTC halving cycles. Remember the most famous sayings? 

    In the chart below from @thescalpingpro on X, @thescalpingpro illustrates that a good time to have bought BTC was around ~500 days (about 16 and a half months) before the halving, and if you were to trade BTC to sell, about ~500 days after the halving would be a good time to sell. This should not be used as financial advice, as there is no guarantee this can continue and be profitable in the future, but a very interesting look at the history of BTC around the time of the halving. 

  1. BTC recently got approved for a Spot ETF in January 2024 (and now Ethereum in May 2024), allowing anyone to invest in BTC or ETH through one of the approved ETF listings (subject to the country approving these listings). Asset Management firms, Hedge Funds, Banks, companies, 401k’s, your grandmother all have easy access to both ETF's now; and for the institutions, they can legally have exposure to crypto now. You should note - buying this ETF does not allow you to hold your actual BTC, the holding firms will hold the BTC. But similarly, to investing in gold on the stock market, you can get exposure to BTC and exposure to the price of BTC through these ETFs. Since the approval, there has been a FLOOD of BTC inflows. People want BTC, even if it is 1%, 2%, 3% of their holdings. JPMorgan’s assets under management in 2023 was $3.4 trillion. If they decide as a company to hold 1% of their assets in BTC, that is $34 billion worth of BTC. Below is a chart of the weekly inflows (or outflows in red) in $millions added between all the ETF holdings combined. As you can see the demand is there, and there are still a plethora of Asset Management firms, Banks, individuals, companies, etc that do not hold any … yet.

    I am expecting Ethereum will have hundreds of millions of inflow in its first few weeks as well; maybe not as much as BTC, but once the Ethereum ETF is listed and tradeable we will be able to see how much institutional and retail demand there is. 

  1. United States economic data has started to stabilize to the norm. Inflation is still around 3%, but it has come down drastically over the last few months; and the unemployment rate is at a healthy level, around 3.9%. The fear was that inflation would continue to spike, consumer spending would go down drastically which would force companies to lay off employees - but all of the recent data has been pretty positive. For the most part, people are employed, spending money and going about their days without much fear. Yes, your grocery bills are a lot higher but salaries have also increased, and I believe everything will get back to the relative balance soon. If these trends continue, it will allow the Federal Reserve to cut the federal interest rates from its current level of 5.25%-5.50%. 

    Cutting rates is bullish for the economy if the economy is in a healthy state - as it allows companies and individuals to borrow money at a lower rate, giving them capital to start or expand their businesses as well as allow people to take out lower mortgage rate loans for houses. If people have money and are employed, this could potentially create even more BTC and cryptocurrency inflows. People are starting to understand, holding cash or money in your bank account will slowly lose value, and you need to invest in assets that keep up or rise above inflation levels. BTC is one of those solutions. With big banks like JPMorgan & UBS saying they are buying BTC ETFs, the everyday person might want to follow and have some BTC exposure as it gets more normalized. 

    We are also seeing a big push for crypto from the U.S. Presidential candidates. They are realizing crypto is here to stay and seeing some of the smartest minds in the space leave to countries with more friendly laws. Donald Trump recently said “I will ensure the future of crypto and Bitcoin will be made in the USA, not driven overseas” as seen below. Being pro-crypto will allow really cool stuff to be built and in turn, allow BTC and ETH and crypto assets to flourish with less negative sentiment. Everyday people will want to use crypto and invest in crypto and we will be here teaching and helping them. 


Now, this is the current state of the environment and here, I am using history and speculation to create this thesis. Things can change at any minute – COVID for example came out of nowhere and destroyed the economy in the short term. With how the economy is looking at a macro level, and how BTC has performed post halving, I think the crypto economy is in a good state. Some can say we are still early. Last cycle, family members and people who have never heard of BTC before were asking how to buy. Crypto commercials were everywhere with celebrity endorsements. JPEGs were selling for MILLIONS of dollars. This is the madness of the top and now I am waiting for this to happen again. Will this time be different?
