Web3 is a buzzing space that has grown exponentially in 2021. The transition from being a user in web2.0 to being an owner in web3.0 has been attractive to early adopters. Users of OpenSea, Decentraland, Metamask, and other web3 apps have grown in 2021 and will continue to grow in 2022.

The growth of web3 apps creates a need for builders and developers that are willing to transition from web2 to web3. There is a new set of technical skills needed in order to make that transition. Some of these skills include knowing how to build a decentralized application, a token, and an NFT. More senior skills include building decentralized exchanges and writing secure smart contracts. A central hub for learning these skills is needed.

Kacie Ahmed is one of the people that recognized the need for courses to teach these skills and we had the opportunity to interview him for this article. Ahmed graduated with a degree in Computer Science in April 2021 and later joined Blockchain Developers United in September. This culminated in a hackathon called BlockHack in Toronto, in which he was scouted by companies after winning 3rd place. His idea of creating web3 courses organically occurred after creating his own web3-related content and participating in panels on Twitter Spaces. This is how LearnWeb3DAO was born.

Ahmed is one of LearnWeb3DAO’s co-founders. LearnWeb3DAO is a collection of courses that ultimately brings one from beginner to senior developer that can code to Ethereum development standards.

The courses are created with the idea that students have a base understanding of developing using CSS+, Javascript, and HTML but the freshman track includes basic programming lessons to start. The course is broken into 4 learning tracks ranging from the freshman track to the senior track. Each course builds on the last, therefore they have to be completed before moving on to the next. The freshman track was released as a beta version in December to their first 1,000 Twitter followers.

The freshman track includes building a dApp, creating a token, and creating an NFT. The sophomore and junior track go deeper into building with Solidity, creating a DAO and DeFi protocols, and building on other chains. The freshman track is asynchronous with mini-lessons while the later courses will possibly have cohorts with live instructors. After completing the tracks, the user will be awarded a certification to show their web3 developing proficiency.

The LearnWeb3 courses could have been hosted on Udemy but instead are run through a DAO. Ahmed says that the reason for this was to help build the community and allow for governance tokens. The governance tokens also allow for token holders to vote on hackathons to participate in and other initiatives in the future. Utilizing a DAO allows for growth and scalability more than Udemy courses would.

LearnWeb3DAO’s goal is to transition 1 million developers from web2 to web3. In the long term, they aim to be the main place developers go to make that transition. This will allow for recruiters to use LearnWeb3DAO’s network as a strong talent pool for hiring web3 developers. The certification for completing all 4 tracks would hold weight when recruiting Senior Solidity Developers. The demand for web3 developers is high and is continuing to grow, therefore a central location for proficient developers would benefit both developers and recruiters.

We asked Kacie for his thoughts on these questions and here’s what he had to say:

“What about Web3 interests you?”

A huge part of what interests him is the fact that the space is so new. The biggest people in the space are coming up right now and that means there is a great opportunity to be a thought leader. The work being done right now in web3 is more impactful than the work one can do in more established tech spaces. Ahmed says he wants to “see where the web3 space goes in the next 10 years and carve out [his] path in that.” He went on to say that “this space is a frontier and everything is being built now.”

“What can non-technical people do in the web3 space?”

Like other tech spaces, there is room for non-technical people to make money. One does not need to be a developer in order to be in the web3 space. He believes that developer advocacy, technical writing, and community management are a few roles that are currently needed and are hiring. He says “whatever your strengths are in the space, you can make money from it.”

Web3 is a growing space that needs developers with web3 specific knowledge. LearnWeb3DAO will be an important player in transitioning those developers to the space. There is also a need for non-technical people in web3. Everyone will be able play a role in the growth of the web3 space.

Переход к Web 3.0 будет долгим и постепенным, но решения на основе децентрализованных технологий — и, прежде всего, dApp — входят в реальную жизнь уже сейчас.

Что такое сеть Axelar?

Сеть Axelar — это децентрализованная конечная машина состояний, отвечающая за облегчение запросов между цепочками. Сеть поддерживает несколько ключевых протоколов, таких как Cross-Chain Gateway Protocol (CGP)(протокол межсетевого шлюза).CGP лежит в основе системы и позволяет нам легко внедрять новые цепочки без ограничений на правила консенсуса и передавать информацию по ним. В этом посте рассмотрится то, что заставляет CGP работать, и углубимся в некоторые детали стека. Но сначала давайте попробуем понять, что привело разработчиков к этой архитектуре.

Почему сети Axelar нужен консенсус для обработки межсетевых запросов?

Зачем сети Axelar нужна пороговая криптография?

Шлюзы Axelar совместно управляются валидаторами Axelar с помощью пороговой криптографии. Придется ли каждому валидатору запускать узлы всех остальных цепочек?

Сетевые валидаторы Axelar запускают узлы или легкие клиенты других сетей. Для этого не нужно кодировать специальную логику — валидаторы просто загружают программные клиенты, предоставленные разработчиками блокчейнов, открывают конечные точки RPC и указывают узлы Axelar на эти конечные точки. Валидаторам будет разрешено выбирать, для каких цепочек они будут проверять запросы, и стимулы будут структурированы соответствующим образом. Важно отметить, что пороговые ключи будут распределены между всеми валидаторами для большей безопасности ( также есть вторичные ключи, которые будут распределяться между меньшим количеством валидаторов с гораздо более ограниченной мощностью).

Какие типы команд поддерживает сеть?

Как растет “государственность” в сети Axelar?

Сеть Axelar отслеживает только информацию, связанную с контрактами шлюза и межсетевыми транзакциями. Следовательно, данные растут только с увеличением количества межцепочечных передач, а не с размером блокчейнов, которые соединяет сеть Axelar. Кроме того, несколько межсетевых транзакций обрабатываются партиями.

Что нужно для поддержки новой сети на Axelar?

Контракты шлюза Axelar необходимо перенести на язык смарт-контрактов этой платформы. Контракты являются «универсальными», поскольку они не зависят от консенсуса или состояния каких-либо других цепочек. Например, в основном одни и те же контракты повторно используются во всех цепочках EVM. Затем, определенный минимальный порог сетевых валидаторов Axelar должен запускать узлы, чтобы иметь возможность проверять запросы в / из контрактов шлюза. Порог — это настраиваемый параметр в системе, который будет установлен на основе экспериментов в тестовой сети.

Как информация доставляется в разные цепочки блоков?

Когда транзакция в цепочке A достигает контракта шлюза, ее необходимо ретранслировать в сеть Axelar. Ретрансляторы несут ответственность за мониторинг этих межсетевых контрактов и, увидев входящий запрос, перенаправляют его в сеть Axelar. Впоследствии валидаторы будут запрашивать свои конечные точки RPC для цепочки A, голосовать за транзакцию, инициировать переход внутреннего состояния для обработки транзакции. Например, если транзакция вносит средства в контракт шлюза, то валидаторы записывают это и помещают в бэклог, откуда он может быть подписан всеми валидаторами Axelar. Наконец, любой может передать подписанную транзакцию в цепочку назначения.

Важно отметить, что ретрансляторам не доверяют безопасность протокола. Децентрализованный протокол, выполняемый валидатором Axelar, проверяет (где применимо) каждый запрос, отправленный ретрансляторами. Кроме того, для поддержания работоспособности протокола достаточно иметь 1 функциональный ретранслятор.

Кроме того, многие переходы между состояниями могут быть инициированы кем угодно в сети. Например, когда несколько межсетевых транзакций ожидают в очереди в цепочку назначения, один запрос подписи в сети обработает их все.

Что нужно для мониторинга работоспособности сетевых узлов и валидаторов Axelar?

За информацией о состоянии сети могут следить:

а) Мониторинг журналов, отправляемых узлами Axelar,

б) Запрос состояния бухгалтерской книги,

c) Наблюдение за событиями, генерируемыми узлами Axelar и в контрактах шлюза,

г) Подписка на метрики, представленные через Prometheus.

With the massive airdrop, I was curious how the Tokenomics work and why each stakeholder would have the interest to participate in the ecosystem. More importantly, how are they able to support such high staking rewards.

The above shows the token allocation between the team, the investors, the protocol and the community. Focusing on the community token:

Airdrop: 12% of the token is used in Airdrop.

Here’s show the stats for the Airdrop. At the time of writing, >70% of addresses have claimed the reward, which means the price has been rather stabilised if we factor in those who would immediately sell after claiming the rewards.

Staking rewards: 18.9% (189m) of the tokens are distributed as staking rewards.

In the short run, on top of the trading fee that you could earn when you stake LOOKs, you could also earn an extra staking rewards distribution from the project. This serves as the extra incentive for people to stake LOOKS at the early stage of the project. This is also why we could see a staking reward goes up to 1000%. In fact, roughly half of the staking reward comes from the staking rewards (LOOKS), while another half comes from the trading fees (WETH). The rewards are shared proportionally among the stakers, and hence as user number increases the APY return gradually decreases.

Note that the staking rewards are distributed based on the below schedule. As there is a finite 189m token to be distributed as staking rewards, the extra staking rewards distribution would be finished after 721 days.

Trading rewards: 44.1% (441m) of the tokens are distributed as trading rewards.

Similarly, there are extra trading rewards to those early adopters and trade NFTs via LooksRare. The distribution follows the below schedule and runs out in 721 days.

From the above, we can see that in the short run, users are encouraged to use the platform as there are extra trading rewards for users who have transacted on the platform. People who believe in the platform would also buy and stake LOOKS so they can share the transaction fee from the platform.

With the additional trading rewards offered at launch, there are opportunities to capture the rewards through wash trade. In this context, it means the same person trade the NFTs via his own different wallets to capture the trading rewards. Looking at the users number and total volume of LooksRare and Opensea, it is highly likely that there is wash trade activity on the LooksRare platform. Although LooksRare has a much less users, their total volume is nearly triple what Opensea has.

In the long run, the extra trading rewards or staking rewards would be gone. If the plans work out, the airdrop and these extra rewards should merely be incentives to attract people to use the platform in the first place. In the traditional business model, these are just customer acquisitions strategies. The key is whether the platform/product provides value and retain the customers.

If the platform manages to retain users, in the long run, as more and more people use the platform, people would want to buy and stake LOOKS on the platform as they could share the trading fee from the platform. Although it means the APY could go down as more people are sharing the same pool of profits, it could be offset by the increases in total transaction fee earned by the platform as the transaction volume goes up. Hence, the APY would eventually reach an equilibrium point driven by market force, and the LOOKS price would be affected by market demand and supply accordingly. In other words, people who own and stake LOOKS are similar to the “shareholders” of the platform, where they will be able to share the profit the platform generates, and they would buy the “stocks” if the “dividend” and “the company” fundamentals make sense to them.

As the team also owns the token, they are incentivized to keep building the platform and improve the product, as the value of the token is hinged on the transaction volume/fee of the platform.

We can also see the commitment of the team through the vesting schedule. The team is not receiving any LOOKS tokens until half a year. This signals the team actually plans to build the platform instead of a pump & dump project.

LOOKS has a fairly large negative funding rate at FTX, meaning lots of people are shorting the token. One explanation is that people are buying LOOKS to stake on the protocol and earn the tremendous staking rewards. To hedge the risk of LOOKS price movement, they decide to short LOOKS. Hence, they could earn the staking rewards without the exposure to LOOKS price.

Opensea has raised lots of funding over the last year and achieved a valuation of $13bn. It is a centralised platform that takes the Web2 approach but targets the Web3 community. LooksRare is taking the Web3 approach to solving the same problem as Opensea. It shows a lot of potentials to achieve the size of Opensea as the NFT market keeps expanding.

One concern is that the team is anonymous. To me, it always discredits the credibility of the project. Besides, the extra rewards would gradually decrease after the first 30 days, which would be a risk for the price correction by then.
