Essentially when we discuss on chain data we are discussing the identity of individuals, whether it be transactional, social or financial. There does seem to be a misinterpretation of the financial narrative but with the help of non financial fundamental sectors this would offset this issue. Most people think that web3 is all about permanent records for example: legal affiliations or membership credentials. However, once they actually enter the space people soon realise web3 is about so much more. One of the things that is being overrepresented is the financial aspect of the blockchain. However, there is a shift happening away from this from education credentials to employment history to different works of art and if we can really establish this kind of identity we can start to build more social policies or relevant social changes. The type of actions you make on the blockchain is also definitive of your identity. If we only let data represent human beings it is kind of sad. However, you social identity has not been changed in the philosophy part because you are still you but your creations, activities and your time from your socials , your friends' socials and your memories are recorded on the blockchain.

How to ensure the privacy of on chain social interaction? What are your thoughts?

We know from the current infrastructure of crypto that actually all the data is public, visible and on chain. So actually all behaviours on chain is visible by others. Actually maybe not every social interaction will be put on chain because the basics of social interaction is already pretty solved quite well in web2. Actually what will be put on chain will mostly be the identity and the reputation which is what people want to put on chain. Just like what people are doing in web2 life for example: They put their professional profile in LinkedIn. They put their hobbies and they put their life on Instagram. Actually, those public data. I think it's more likely to be put on chain while those private data actually isn't. It's not easy to let every human accept that they will put all their data on chain. Mask network has done a very good job in terms of encrypting some of the messages that we can share to some people that we can allow for them to read the messages. So yeah, there are a lot of ways to protect user data. Finding the sweet spot between what users think is the data which is imported versus something that you can publicly share can be construed quite differently across different people right, so being able to identify which ones are able to be shared giving this total control to users. That's definitely what a user would be looking forward to in this new 'control to users'. That's definitely what users would be looking forward to in this new space. Having that control as well. Maybe the identity and social graph verification can be put on chain while the actual privacy layer can be built upon that.

What is the biggest challenge web three has brought to our daily social life?

Being more self conscious of what you put and how you convey something online. Also being able to mentally shift your mind from the control of a government or big corporations that exploit people's data so that people are no longer incubated by this control and the technology can have a lot more social goods and projects to flourish. That being said, web3 has not directly changed our social daily life right now but web3 projects with an open source will bring social identity and make reputation verification easy and build a reliable and trusting Internet which we could have never imagined before. You know, challenges and challenges come together, especially when we know about the dual political implications of web3 and we're definitely facing a lot more, a lot more challenges - more about the long term - and also wider implications for our society; social, societal and cultural, political, and even in a geopolitical sense. So that's definitely something and some of the topics we have been kind of avoiding and missing in the past. Discussions are mainly up to this point in and around the crypto area, but we'll see sooner or later, and it's coming. It's coming very soon that that we have to talk about these challenges in a more conscious sense and to make choices.

What kind of social relationships and society should people want in Web 3?

Web3 is a network that built completely online, which means that we should we have to assume such a scenario that two people might never meet in real life, but we have to collaborate on the network so to make sure that such a collaboration can be trusted, we need Web3 and we need a reputation protocol built on web3 and with such a reputation protocol, we believe that collaborations can easily be built. In that where people can trust each other based on their previous transaction history based on their own on chain reputation, collaboration will be the most important social relationship in Web3. Regarding freedom of speech because we all know that there is like a market nuances versus different markets, different countries or different places. And in social media, we always have this issue right. Whether or not we can openly share something and then suddenly either the the centralized party, would either ban our account because of something we said wrong or getting a lot of kickbacks from different perspectives and what people may not want to hear. So always trying to find that the right balance between what kind of things you can say without offending too many people or getting so much criticism for hearing different thoughts. On top of the crypto technology and on top of the block chain technology we can enforce labour rights, human rights etc in a smart contract that can be used to incentivise people.

The contract operates according to a pre-defined whitelist, which consists of the addresses of the people who submitted our google form. We have verified that whitelist and figured out the gas fee paid for minting of everyone in it as all of this is based on on-chain data. The list for this can be found here:

The contract is designed for "burn-and-refund". That means, the users in the whitelist can go to our website (which will be launched later) and confirm to burn their minted V1 NFT. When confirmed, the contract will "burn" that specific NFT token (i.e., transfer it to NULL address and delete it from the total supply), and refund the gas fee they paid for minting that token. The "burn-and-refund" is an automatic operation, which means that either they both succeed or both fail. So users do not need to worry if they would burn the NFT for nothing. If you minted an ATEM NFT you will be compensated.

Before users confirm to burn on our website, we will display the token id of the NFT they will burn, and how much ETH they can get, so that users can decide whether they want to burn before confirmation.

The refund amount will be the V1 gas fee (this can be found in the refund list + 0.005 ETH (burning gas fee)

And there are some rules:

1. only the "minted" v1 NFT can be burned, i.e., if someone bought their NFT from someone else on the secondary market, he can not burn and be refunded;

2. inferred from point 1, one address can only burn (at most) one NFT, because in the V1 contract, we only allow one address to mint 1 NFT.

3. If one holds more than one NFT per address, if one of these NFTs are minted by themselves, then they can burn that one. If all these NFTs are bought from someone else, then they can not burn i.e. You are entitled to the burn and refund only if you minted the NFT yourself.

   According to the V1 NFT contract, one can mint at most 1 NFT.

This Tuesday (22/03/2022) Atem held its first ever AMAs on twitter. Two sessions were hosted, one in English and the other in Chinese. Below will be a summary of some the key questions asked as well as the answers given.

What is Atem? Atem is building a decentralized community and social trades together in a web3 group space.

Atem has received $3 million investment in its seed round led by INCE Capital. The other investors include GSR Ventures, Mask Network, Mirana Ventures, A&T Capital, Atlas Capital, Foresight Ventures, Zonff Partners and Michael Zhang, co-founder of Zhihu.

What problem is Atem solving? We solve the need for social trading. We want to create and build communities based on tokens/NFTs that a user owns, which is on-chain data, and then put them into the relevant group spaces. This allows users to meet like minded people and chat and trade seamlessly. In addition, offering a safe and seamless experience to mitigate potential scams where currently users are directed to unsecured third party sites for transactions on existing social platforms.

What was the beta launch about and objective? The beta launch is about trying the Atemchat product (beta). 5000 NFT were rewarded to early users of the beta launch. We are offering three features: Group spaces, NFT listings and NFT bids.

What happened during the launch & what mistake was made? At 9PM, the website went live. Within one minute there was a huge traffic spike. We tried to create group spaces the moment users connected their wallet, which created hundreds of thousands of queries in a minute, causing the website to shut down. After that, we hot fixed it in an hour and re-launched;

Second, the NFT smart contract was hijacked, specifically the contract ownership, and anyone could change the pictures instead of our own. However, the users' asset is safe.

We put all of our effort into the product, and we take the responsibility for not reviewing the contract carefully. Nevertheless, we do have a very strong and solid smart contract team to make sure the product is delivered, and we will invite professional auditors and white hat hackers to make sure the smart contracts are correct and secure going forward.

How are you compensating users ? We have a fixed plan, refund of gas fee or wait for v2 NFT drop. Gas fee application is closed. Those that did not request a gas fee refund, will receive a v2 NFT by Apr 4th. The snapshot has already been taken.

What did you learn from beta launch? We will focus on every detail, and the detail especially related to contract will have a complete process (Third party audit institution, and white hats).We also welcome the community to review it and we hope we don't lose any more trust in the future.

What do you think of this launch? Success or failure ? Success: We got a lot of traffic, and our smart contract was the TOP9 smart contract interacted on Ethereum Network in 24 hours; Failure: We made some fundamental mistakes, but we do have confidence in our team that we can deliver a solid smart contract and product in the future. Also, the NFT has utility.

When is Atem's next launch? And what should the community expect to be upcoming before next launch? Our next launch is April 4th and our smart contract team is working on it. There will also be lots of different events where users can earn whitelist spots. Public launch is TBA and everyone can then try our product even without the Atem NFT passport.

Could you elaborate the “one stop solution”? We plan on building a product that allows users to socially chat to each other in the same group spaces as well as being able to bid/buy/trade tokens/NFTs with each other. This is a one stop solution as we are combining the social aspect of the crypto community as well as the trading part i.e. social trading which we believe will keep users engaged and remove the need to use exchanges or other means to trade.
