Two things feel like common sense to me as AI usage continues to increase.

1. Software must become more modular - Lego pieces that AI can pick up & use.

2. The probabilism of AI must be balanced with deterministic systems that deliver reliable, consistent outcomes.

That last point is worth unpacking.

AI is probabilistic:

AI generates outputs based on likelihood, not certainty. Ask an AI agent the same question a hundred times and you'll get a hundred different responses. That's useful for reasoning, drafting, and analysis. It's not useful for executing a trade, moving funds, or triggering a workflow that needs to fire the same way every time. Those systems need to be deterministic: same input, same output, every time.

The good news is that while AI itself is probabilistic, the tools AI uses - software, APIs, execution layers - can be designed to be reliable and predictable. An AI agent can reason about what to do; a deterministic system ensures it gets done correctly.

The problem is that blockchains, in their current form, are not reliable tools. They're difficult for AIs (and businesses) to interact with at scale. Execution on decentralized networks means dealing with:

• RPC failures

• Chain reorgs + updates

• Indexing and data access

• Gas spikes

• Fragmented data interfaces and protocols

We learned this firsthand at B3 Labs, building an ecosystem of horizontally scaled chains with over a dozen consumer products. As builders who worked with enterprises - both at Coinbase and now with major external partners - we realized there was a gap we needed to fill.

A lot of effort is going into building better reasoning models and better AI. There's a growing need on the other side, providing these AIs with reliable, trigger-based ways to actually execute things. As demand grows for AI agents, demand for deterministic automation grows with it. They're opposite sides of the same coin, and I don't think most people understand that yet.

ServiceNow CEO Bill McDermott put it well on their Q4 2025 earnings call:

"AI doesn't replace enterprise orchestration. It depends on it."

Onchain Lego Blocks

The fundamental promise of crypto is building on a shared compute layer with a publicly accessible ledger. The trade-off is complexity: wallets, key management, gas, constant signing, RPCs, competing for execution on gas markets. Every onchain action requires stitching together multiple steps - and if any one fails, the whole thing breaks.

B3OS abstracts that complexity into composable blocks. Each block does one job reliably: land a transaction, listen for an event, connect to a protocol, manage a wallet. Connectors: The bridges. Onchain protocols like Polymarket and Neynar, plus 2,000+ Web2 connectors for Slack, Telegram, Google, and more.

Execution Engine: The layer underneath. Lands transactions consistently across multiple chains with low latency. Handles gas, RPC failures, reorgs, and auto-retries so individual blocks don't have to.

Managed Wallets: Shared or solo wallets with organizational structure. Export your private keys anytime. Full audit trail and permissions.

AI Agent: Caddie, our specialized LLM, who works with you to build, connect, modify, and debug all of these pieces.

When Glitch failed to gain a sustainable audience, the team realized their internal chat tool, designed for team collaboration across different cities, was more valuable than the game itself

The origin story of B3OS is similarly rooted in experimentation and play.

B3 started in mid-2024 and for the first year and a half our sole focus was building and shipping high quality, onchain consumer products, games & infrastructure. Onchain gaming was already taboo, but we believed that we could change the narrative by creating novel experiences for regular people that truly belonged onchain. Our motto, "you can't try the same things and expect different results," was taken to heart - maybe too much. In 12 months, we launched 14 products, each built on a new set of blockchain primitives, all providing a distinctive experience for users.

Many of these products saw strong results initially - most notably Basement, our gaming gaming platform, saw over 200k wallets and 12m transactions in just a few months. We debated investing more in customer acquisition, but the reality was none of these products had PMF. Nonetheless, we had inadvertently built some pretty remarkable tech at the foundation of each of the 14 products.

Building for consumers in gaming requires simplicity, reliability, interoperability, and a native way to interact with web2 - all massive gaps in current crypto infra. The workarounds most crypto enthusiasts deal with are simply not good enough for the masses. Solving for these missing pieces was nothing short of a nightmare. If it was just one small thing to fix or some slight inconvenience to work around, B3OS may have never been created. In hindsight, the broken state of crypto was a blessing: sure we uncovered gaps that took us countless eng hours to find solutions for, but those solutions became the formative lego building blocks of what we call B3OS.

Around 10 months ago, B3OS began. Initially B3OS was Anyspend 2.0, an expansion of our payments API that allows anyone to onramp and spend any token on any chain. The idea was, we are building many products that require nuanced payment systems, why don't we optimize Anyspend to help us build these products faster and more reliably. Building modularly, we kept adding hooks and plugging in primitives and audited smart contracts from existing products. We started being able to use the product to improve our business. We built products like Walletgas (that would have taken days and multiple devs), and forked our own versions of existing SaaS subscriptions that saved us thousands of dollars a month. BAM! We had PMF... or at least it solved real problems for ourselves.

Excited, we began to pressure test the product with other teams and builders. The value proposition was consistent - build faster, more accessibly, and more reliably - but each team, builder, and trader had a different workflow they wanted to solve for. That is the beauty of B3OS: every stack is different, and requires a bespoke and reliable solutions. Without B3OS, teams are forced to piece together expensive, disconnected services or build for themselves using LLMs that lack context on crypto and produce highly variable results.

B3OS enables builders to create custom, reliable, onchain workflows that save time and money - and even innovate new products and strategies altogether.

These conversations led to a number of day-one partners who will have early access to B3OS and help us build out public templates.

Our experience building onchain has afforded us unrivaled knowledge of crypto's strengths, shortcomings, and potential. We think competition should be a cornerstone experience in gaming monetization.

ArenaKit is just one contribution from @b3dotfun that builds upon our other work (onchain leaderboards,@anyspend) and serves as a core primitive in the open gaming layer.

there - I realized that, admittedly, I've not done a great job of publicly explaining the @b3dotfun vision for blockchain scaling to the community (outside of our investors & partners ofc - guess it's time to spend less time in the trenches building & more time raising awareness)

why did we need to build a separate blockchain for gaming?

We're proudly @base aligned, with a lot of team members coming from @coinbase

to build this vision. In our DNA is a reputation for not just building for theoretical scale, but actually dealing with high-pressure real-world (with dollars on the line) applications that had to deal with 20m+ requests/second throughput.

building enterprise web2 infra isn't the same as building a blockchain, but similar lessons apply (as is true in most engineering)

at the core - and to oversimplify; there are 2 approaches to scaling:

• scale vertically - ie: increase throughput (more txns, faster blocks, etc)

• scale horizontally - ie: distribute load over more instances

Base is working towards scaling vertically. They have a mission to hit a scaling gas target (currently at 32 mgas/second at time of this post).

This is equivalent of having a machine, and optimizing it, improving performance & scale (obviously more complex in practice - especially in a decentralized distributed system)

But there's a drawback to this - which is that a single one-size fits all system isn't actually 100% one-size fits all.

As a simple example:

• Imagine you are a game developer

• Imagine you wish to put a LOT of content onchain (we can debate the reasons why, but for now just assume you want all game state or something to live onchain)

• In this system, you compete with all the other parties that wish to fill blocks: defi txns, memecoin traders, bots, snipers, staking, etc

If you do the math - it doesn't just become an issue with throughput, but also economics. Really quickly, you'll realize that as a game developer you might go bankrupt just sending txns for your game.

Even with more throughput and localized gas fee markets, the problem remains the same. And arguably from Base's perspective, it's not even a problem, it's a feature. You WANT some economic security baked into the gas fee, which makes both the ecosystem and defi (high value txns) sustainable.

But in gaming, your revenue model might not be tied to more txns - and at scale gaming throughput requirements are likely beyond current thresholds.

So what do you have to do? Comprise 🤮 - do less txns, or try to optimize more, or move more stuff offchain.

What if there's another option?

A case for horizontal scaling on B3

Okay - so what if instead, you could settle transactions on a dedicated blockchain designed just for gaming? You would no longer be competing with other txn types, oh and also - the gas would be a log scale cheaper because it's a L3.

Oh also - you can still keep your defi on Base (in fact, we even recommend this to games - you'd benefit from existing DEX and CEX routes in the Base ecosystem)

Sounds pretty cool right?

Well it's already a reality on B3 - and we'd invite you to do this today (hit us up @b3dotfun)

This is essentially a horizontal scaling approach.

And in fact, it continues to scale even if we were to hit throughput limits (which we haven't yet).

Imagine then, that you are a serious enterprise gaming studio, with millions of txns per day that you'd want to land. Well, we have a concept called GameChains - which are essentially managed infra & blockspace dedicated just for your use case. These gamechains settle on B3, and gas is another magnitude cheaper (basically free at this point) since it's an L4.

We'll be deploying gamechains with flagship partners like @Sanctuary_B3 @parallel @InfiniGods @reachlabs_net @SuperGamingNPC and more.

Ugh - don't we have enough blockchains?

I think this is a fair initial reaction towards the idea of more rollups and a horizontally scaling approach.

But, I challenge you to ask yourself if this is because of bias towards your favorite current flavor of blockchain - whether it's @base or @solana or whatever (ofc you want them to succeed & have less "competition").

In fairness, for many use cases (like defi for example) this can be annoying.

But - consider the following:

• We are converging on advancements in wallet abstraction, chain abstraction, and account abstraction (smart accounts) that continue to make meaningful improvements to chain switching (or lack of)

• In gaming specifically, many games are not browser based (desktop, console or mobile) and utilize embedded wallets or global accounts which make chain switching invisible (thanks to some tech from @b3dotfun)

So from a UX perspective, you won't even notice where the txns settle - just that it happened.

None of these ideas are new of course, the idea of having a high usage application that sticks all of it's throughput through a single layer (like a MongoDB database for example) is uncommon.

In reality, in software engineering we use several services & layers like Redis, microservices, Cloudflare, etc to distribute load and not have single points of failure.

Why shouldn't it be the same in blockchains?

It's totally fine imo to have application specific or use case specific blockchains, as long as you are not detracting from the user experience.

How are you gonna make money if gas is that cheap?

We aren't probably gonna make that much from it. But that's not bearish.

Sure, the volume & scale probably make up some of the loss in a higher gas fee.

But ultimately, ask yourself this:

What happens in a future where the top ecosystems have ample blockspace and compete to sell this blockspace to others?

If @base competes with @solana who competes with 100 other L1s & L2s, and all parties continue to make improvements to both throughput and bandwidth...

My theory is that over a longer horizon, the "price" of blockspace goes marginally above the cost of hosting that blockspace (much like cost computing does - ie, AWS must keep their rates competitive with Google & the long tail of providers; Digitalocean, Railway, Vercel, etc). All of which trend down over time as we make things more efficient.

So - then if selling blockspace is ultimately a business with compressing margins, what is the value of a blockchain?

Well - it's in providing value to it's users, builders, and businesses.

Value can be a lot of things, sometimes it's "culture" or "vibes", other times it can be more explicit like privacy, support, distribution.

The value of B3

Okay, so what's the value of B3? If we aren't that interested in selling blockspace, and in fact - will "sell it to you" (super cheap gas) for basically free (or a thin margin), what the hell are we doing?

• Laser focused team who spends all day 24/7 thinking about how to succeed in crypto gaming

• People who deeply understand the pains, truths, and demands of gaming studios & gamers

• Protocol level support & smart contracts for gaming specific use cases

• Open ecosystem with world class tooling, SDKs, and infra for builders + great commercials pre-negotiated to keep your costs sustainable

• Ecosystem growth in the form of strategic incentives, revenue sharing, and publishing - you shouldn't have to build a moat around your users, instead be incentivized (in optimism style model) to share users & grow the pie

• Largest token holder community for gaming on Base

you want to make your own decisions on what wallet to use, what smart contract provider to work with, and what the UX of the block explorer looks like. you want to use your own token as the native gas token (or maybe you just want to use ETH!), and you’re frustrated with the limitations from existing chains.

so you build your own app chain. 

this idea seems great at first, and everything is all g for a while — until you’re faced with all the work required to actually run a chain despite using a RaaS provider. you still need an NFT indexer, VRF, major wallets to support your chain, onramp/offramps, NFT marketplace support, and so much more. 

after you’re done paying millions for all of these integrations, you have an app chain that’s still siloing your users on an island where bridging and network switching is a part of their daily lives if they want to play your game, and the entire thing is so much work you don’t have any time to actually build games anymore, you’re now on full-time infrastructure duty. 

this sucks and it shouldn’t be the price paid for flexibility. 

that’s why we built B3.

B3 is horizontally scaled (meaning we can reach really high tps while maintaining near gasless transactions) and we have slick chain abstraction tech which removes the need for users to switch networks or bridge. pure, unadulterated innovation at the UX level.
